While discussing the recruitment of Bryce Mathews, someone, and I forget who it was, mentioned that Ole Miss was very similar to Clemson in that they place a great deal of importance on a family atmosphere based on values and helping recruits become the best people, and not just the best football player. It has also been mentioned that this is the environment Mathews and his family are looking for. Assuming this is true, it is no surprise that it comes down to us and Old Miss. My questions:

1. Is it true that the NCAA has been in Oxford asking uncomfortable questions about Ole Miss recruiting practices in football?

2. If this is true, do you think Mathews would know about this?

3. I am not sure how to ask this, but are recruiting violations something that would damage a "family atmosphere" reputation? As a Clemson fan, I would be embarrassed if this happened at Clemson , and Dabo knew about it. I also believe the national and local press would eat him alive.

4. Based on what you know about Dabo and our staff, would they mention the snooping by the NCAA in Miss., assuming they knew this to be true? From what I remember, Dabo was highly ticked off about what happened with Nkem (sp?), the big end from Grayson.

Thanks for your opinion. I am aware this is all speculation, but I am interested in whether all is fair in love, war and college football recruiting in the southeast USA,
