Likewise seeing a robust rebirth of our Covid ICU and the number of Covid positive patients in the hospital. Almost all unvaccinated. Recently intubated a 30 year old with respiratory failure who is Covid positive and was unvaccinated. I could go on and on. But I have to admit I'm getting to the point of no longer caring if the unvaccinated ever get vaccinated and i hate feeling that way. I do believe in the freedom to make choices about your body yourself and find it hard to support vaccination mandates. 96% of physicians in the United States are vaccinated. Find anything else that 96% of physicians would agree on lol!!
The fatigue is very real. I’m starting another round of conversations, but it’s exhausting. So much disinformation and so much reinforcement of negative biases.
Hopefully people call on their senators to do whats right and truly investigate how this virus orginiated as well. Would be nice to know how this started and why it was covered up/engineered

When I got into medical sales after college it was an eye opener to hear the shit patients would say after a heart Cath such as , boy I could use a cigarette now or man I can’t wait to eat (from a 300lb dude who was over 95% blocked). SMH

Any way you could provide some general Age Bracket/Gender stats on those individuals? Both Admitted and Admitted to ICU?

Yup. This shit has brought out the worst in a lot of (likely) normally reasonable people. Made me reach the conclusion that the mental health crisis far outstrips the virus.

Good question and I honestly don't know the answer to that. I drove up in my truck wearing scrubs and the nurse asked if I was there for my booster before i ever presented my vaccination card. I said yes, handed her my card, no appointment, and 5 minutes later i had booster shot. I went thru the drive thru vaccine site right outside the hospital. One line for vaccination, another for covid testing. As an aside, the vaccination line had 3 cars in it, the covid testing line probably 10 times that.
Naturally that’s in the county I live in. That’s why I discuss vaccine and masks with no one here. I don’t want to know their stance and I’m not sharing mine.

My wife just finished a shift at the hospital and said their Covid patients were 50/50 vaxxed to un-vaxxed.
I’m certainly not discounting that point, but I bet if you looked at the broad population of people with Covid in hospitals right now, most would be unvaxxed and not by a small margin.
Interesting...my hospital is similar to what others are seeing...90 of 92 patients were unvaccinated

The interesting part is Dr Gottlieb just came out yesterday and said “we are in the final wave”. The timeline of covid and the Spanish flu is very interesting.
I would say gender is about equal. No exact numbers.
Age is much younger this wave. I would say most are in 40s and 50s. I think we have 9 currently admitted that are in their 20s.
And for the people who say why do I care if their vaccinated...
Because we are nearing the point of putting a tent in our parking lot for COVID patients.
Because we are short staffed for this volume and are seeing way more patients each day than we should.
I care because the stokes, heart attacks, wound infections, pneumonia, etc are waiting days in the ER for a bed. The influx of unvaccinated COVID patients makes it impossible to provide the care that those people deserve.
It's complicated on many levels and I'm not here to lecture on anyone getting the shot....but I damn well promise you it affects way more than the individual who didn't get it.
It's been a long year. It is SO much worse this time for us and no end in site.
My friend works in Jacksonville and they have nearly 600 COVID patients....and a tent in the parking lot.
Sad part is no end in sight...not yet anyway. Numbers keep going up by the day

If what is true today is based on scientific fact, it will be true tomorrow. Science, nor truth changes. You can have variables/inputs change that result in a different outcome based on a scientific principle. That does not mean the science changed. It means the one of the variables in the principle/formula changed.
There is a difference in scientists/CDC saying "this is what we believe based on the information we have now" vs "this is what has been PROVEN through scientific study/experiments". It seems like our best guess is too often being referred to as "science" and presented as fact/truth - even though it is unproven. We are not going to wake up next week and realize gravity no longer exists. Gravity is scientific fact. What we see too often now is stuff presented as scientific fact that is just our best current guess. This is not just specific to covid, but most prevalent.
This needs to be repeated to the people who simply think this is all about individual liberty.
I think smoking cigarettes is the dumbest thing a human can do (and I've got my own terrible habits, believe me...), but even with the tremendous burden that smoking places on our health system in a systematic fashion, we don't wind up having to set up tents in the parking lot or delay necessary or even optional health procedures/surgeries as a result of people's smoking habits.
You don't want to wear a seatbelt when you drive? Fine, as the only people you're really hurting are yourself and whatever loved ones you leave behind. When people go to facebook for their scientific data and make this a damn political issue, they are putting hundreds if not thousands of people at risk collectively with their wanton ignorance.
I just don't understand how modern society got to this point.
Every single American citizen could get vaccinated, but we'd still have tens to hundreds of thousands of unvaccinated, and covid-positive illegals pouring through our Southern border.
100 years from now, people will look back in awe and say, "wow, in 2021, an astonishing 46% of American citizens aged 18-24 admitted to believing that the Earth could possibly be flat, and those were the smart ones!"
The people didn't make covid political, the politicians did.

I still havent been given an explanation of why I should get a vaccine for something that has a 99% survival rate? Half of all deaths are people aged 75+. 2/3 of deaths are aged 65+.

-64.8% overall Deaths with Comorbidities
-9,930 overall Deaths
-103 Deaths Ages 31-40
-36 Deaths 21-30
-9 Deaths 11-20
-0 Deaths below age 11

So everything I’m hearing and reading now says that the vax doesn’t stop the spread of the virus, but only lessons the symptoms. Also, that the first shot doesn’t work and you have to get a booster. But a large group of people that I know that are vaccinated have gotten the virus again and are not doing well. Some in the hospital. But myself, who isn’t vaccinated, has the antibodies, is the dumb one. Got it!
