If our athletic dept. allows our players to begin displaying political messages on jerseys at sporting events I'm done. I'm a 1981 graduate, IPTAY level donor (member since graduation) season ticket holder in three sports. The games are a diversion from the mess of the world....a few hours of respite from bickering, arguing and fighting. I'm happy to watch a left wing socialist play for my alma mater and root like crazy for him but not if he insists on taking my lifetime passion and turning it into his political platform.

100 % agree though I will not be surprised if it happens.

Agree 100 percent. I watch sports to escape this crazy world not to be reminded of all the things wrong with it. I turned on TNT to watch Zion and did'nt make it half way thru the national anthem before I turned it off. I guess I will miss sports until this mess ends.

People who use language like "left-wing socialist" generally don't get their news from credible sources. Soooo I'm gonna guess a chain email? This guy is obviously triggered.

Maybe respect other people’s opinions enough to do a simple google search?

OP has a valid point. Sports can be nice escape from the ongoing issues within the country. He obviously isn’t alone either. Did you see how many folks were divided over Kaep kneeling?

Funny thing about folks so invested in politics claiming they have all the answers, while entrenched in their beliefs, is they seem to rarely recognize why those with an opposite viewpoint might feel as strongly about their own set of beliefs.

It’s nice that you can escape from the real world while others have to worry about potentially getting killed because of the color of their skin

Just like the protest that our players led - let them be human beings with opinions. And love them for it

We get you're a black man and have been beaten up by cops. Please forgive every white person on Earth. Because we aren’t capable of being individuals with different thoughts or cultural opinions.

Had a comment from this very board from a black man today referencing white people on a beach as a bunch of necks. You think that’s culturally ok to say? Be real.

The MFing irony in this one. Sheesh.

politics and social commentary have been in sports for decades if not centuries. The only reason people want to separate them now like it’s church and state is because the politics and views make them uncomfortable. Not because It’s an escape for them.

when have collegiate athletes wore patches to signify their political belief?

stick to the topic.

The old straw man stance. Take something that triggers you from one place and you can't do anything about - put it onto a different place that you feel you have input on (no matter how unrealistic) - then attack it. Sad really

Lmao yeah you’re a looney mf.
I’m sorry it’s invaded you’re sacred space even though you have no control over that space at all. You’re productive over something that doesn’t give a fvck about you. You have no say so. You have no authority. You’re the epitome of making our athletes commodities and not allowing them to be human. If Clemson chooses to do this, are you actually going to stop watching and going to games?

No I just think your outlook on society is ****ing stupid and narrow minded.

newsflash. Every mothetfvcker who’s white ain’t racist. Stop playing the victim and do something to help change shit. Not throw your beliefs on everyone else and think it’s the way it should be.

well I may could agree with you if IF media and social media were not DECIDEDLY one sided. If everyone could express their views freely without media and social media mobs attacking them and then cancel culture wanting them fired then maybe I could see it...

never mind.. screw that.. Even if all athletes agreed with all of my opinions I still don't want to be reminded of political bullshit every time I watch a game.

I can’t think of many things I give less of a shit about than the viewpoint of an 18-22 year old with zero real life experience or any perspective on complex political & social issues.

It’s cute that you can’t see how radical the Democratic Party has become.

Later, I hope to see BLM all over the field.

Yeah, let’s let our college support Marxism. You have to be the most simple Jack MFer on this board.

I’m assuming you’ve actually read what the organization is truly about, and you’re just being cute.

No, he has no clue what they stand for. He still thinks there is some epidemic of white cops hunting down black men for sport, even though every single statistic says otherwise.

Name the last person you know of that got killed because of the color of their skin.

I don’t ’t watch any professional sports because of the political stuff but I might find it very hard to give up going to or stop watching my Tigers play.

I find it fascinating how triggered people get by stuff like this. I just can't wrap my head around how someone's psyche could be so fragile that they'd take a hobby they've devoted decades worth of time, effort and money to, and just rage quit over something this innocuous.
