I saw it stated that Trump waived executive privilege for Bannon to testify but Bannon stated that he would only testify in public. The reason for this would be obvious so he could get his message out unfiltered somewhat.

Steve Bannon left the white house in 2017. He's being asked to testify about things that happened in 2020 and 2021. He can't claim "executive privilege" for things that happened while he wasn't working there, nor can your godking waive executive privilege for another person who didn't work at the white House.

I don’t think you understand how this works. When you are subpoenaed, and you refuse it, you don't get to come back and say, "oh OK, I will do it, but only on my terms."
