Right now you have to like Clemson's chances for victory being at home with an extra week to prepare for ND. These two reasons would have to be worth at least 5.5-7 points (per my thinking). The bookies have it being a pick em or CU -2 .This to me would say talent wise they think ND is better or we would be favored by more. ND is ranked higher but this early in the season doesn't carry as much weight since this is the first real premier matchup for both teams. ND is running their mouths so they feel confident. I think Clemson is ready to show and prove with extra time to prepare.
Our keys for victory:
We are going to have play aggressive and take shots so ND can't crowd the box. We recruited Watson and all these playmaking receivers to stress the back end of the defense so those guys are going to have to go out and flat out make plays. Our receivers are going to have to win the battle against the ND dbs. We need to get this established early and sustain drives.
We need our LBs to not get injured and Lawson has to play out of his mind.
We have to limit ND to field goals. If they score +4.5 TDs then I think we are in trouble.
We have to get some turnovers in the secondary and like always disrupt their QB.
No special teams blunders. Hopefully Lakip can put all the balls in the endzone for no big returns.
Deshaun has to protect the ball and the line has to give Deshaun time to feel comfortable in the pocket for plays to develop and for him to be able to pick the secondary apart.
We have to convert TDs in the Redzone. We don't want to be auburn from last weekend.
A lot of these points are very generic keys to victory but very necessary for a win on Saturday. It will be amazing to beat a 6th ranked Irish team on GameDay in Death Valley. That will be one of my favorite most memorable wins to date and would be a huge notch on the belt for Dabo.
