Let's take a small look at tradition and longevity...
After Coach Howard retired we hired Hootie and Red Parker... that duo lasted 7 total seasons. It was the 3rd hire after Coach Howard that gave us Coach Ford who lasted double digit seasons (12) and has a nice win record.
After Coach Ford was forced out, we got Hatfield (4 seasons .707 win percentage) West (6 seasons .526 win percentage) and Bowden to get another double digit season veteran (10 seasons .615 win percentage).
Which brought us to Coach Swinney...(7 seasons .720 win percentage) and clearly has us at a level not seen by the last 3 coaches or 20 seasons.
In fact if you look at any program... it typically does not show a stepping stone to better and better seasons every time you make a coaching change.
