Last night watching the LSU/Miss St game. And many others before it. I was wondering why after you try and get the other team to jump offsides on the hard count, why not snap it at the last second? Maybe the risk just isn't worth it. Also, you might just not trust the QB to make the right decision.
The reason I ask is because last night with about 6-7 ticks on the play clock Miss St's DLine basically all went back on their hills when they realized what was happening and a couple of LBs were jumping up in the air knowing they weren't going to jump offsides. If you can read that, why not snap it and blow them off the ball and get the two yards(what LSU needed).
It's probably not worth the risk in those late game situations where a play or two can determine a win, but it just seems like you could get those two yards once those guys literally fall back on their hills and have no momentum or strength to make a play.
