This is why the progressive tax is so popular around the world. It's an easy sell to the majority. Trouble is, the effects create an even more distorted income bracket with rich getting richer and everyone else living the life of serfdom.

The Jim Crow thing is actually getting worse. It’s now used as a mechanism to curb any and all conversations that don’t align to a narrative or that challenge a direction. It’s going to cause more harm than good in the long run.

What he should ask them is if they think the new tax mandates on the 1% can cover the 6 trillion of bullsh*t spending Biden is ramming through, per his claims. He should then ask them how they plan to deal with inflation on things like their groceries, lumber or gas to get to work. He should then ask them if they think employers are going to keep salaries and annual raises on par with the inflation/cost of living after Biden raises their corp tax burden. Lastly, he should ask them what they think will happen when the rich dodge the taxes and Joe needs money to cover his spend. To help them, maybe even make that one multiple choice: A: Print More Money B: Create a bogus war C: tax the middle and lower classes.......I’m going to go with A and C.

Maybe the government should have a bake sale or a car wash?

1. the rich are not the 1%. Most of us in the 1% don't consider ourselves rich by any means. They are talking about the top 0.2%.

I disagree with your definition of "most people." Most people think the top 1-2%, because that's what they've been told to think. Most people think someone making $400K is rich. Most people don't even understand capital gains...

Most "sensible" people should fall under your descriptions, but american gen pop isn't necessarily that bright.

I don't think there's any percentage of the so-called Rich the we have a right to confiscate income from because we need to pay for our reckless spending. Furthermore that group of people create most of the jobs in this country. Their ingenuity and spirit of entrepreneurship has led to great gains for all of us in this country.

Also in the process of "taxing" those people their fair share we are screwing over tons of other people. I have a client today who makes $400,000 a year and has over $400,000 in student loans. He's the first person in his family to go to college and graduate. He's worked his ass off to get to where he is in life. His student loan interest isn't tax deductible and he's not going to get any breaks and according to many he doesn't pay his fair share of the tax burden in this country. That is utterly ridiculous. He employs a number of people and benefits many others tremendously through the supply chain that feeds his business. That's supposed to be a great thing and not something we penalize with a higher tax rate.

You have to admit - likening the requirement of an ID or verbal SSN/DOB combo to extremely racist segregation laws is absolutely shameful, divisive and dishonest behavior. So that makes two presidents in a row who have engaged in it. So unfortunate that America can’t have better leadership.

Id laws do not equal Jim crow, you are right. Republican legislatures across the country deliberately limiting access to the ballot box in black communities is getting closer though. The bill in Texas even included "purity at the ballot" box language

What are they limiting? Isn't it easier to vote in a black community in GA now than in any other non-pandemic time? Aren't there blue states with stricter ID laws and less early voting?

They aren't limiting anything. The left will do anything to maintain their hold on the black community. Any escaped slaves are treated like Senator Tim Scott has been treated. It's just disgusting. We are all capable of providing ID for any purpose necessary. If you follow their logic, I'm not sure what our black brothers and sisters do when they need to fly or enter almost any secure building or buy a beer...
