I'm stealing this worst-case scenario to illustrate why I am fundamentally against juco recruiting, especially on the OL.
Here is a clip of Paris Palmer, former S. Carolina commitment who's starting at left tackle for Penn State. Hackenburg was sacked 10 times by Temple in last weekend's upset loss. TEN!
Palmer was the top-rated juco OT by Rivals. Does this look like immediate help???
Occasionally a usable or quality OL will be available. But IMO, they are in juco for a reason, and then they are unlikely to be getting the coaching, training and nutrition for development they'd be getting at a major program. Much less, there aren't a ton of places they'd be getting the structure and discipline that was probably lacking in their lives in the first place (that's a sweeping generalization, admittedly).
Sure, you can't always go grab a Mitch Hyatt and plug-and-play. But the strategy of just going to get juco OL is flawed IMO.
