I remember the Clemson Football teams of the 80's, and I specifically remember how good our defense was during that time throughout the 80's. Before any game, and it didn't matter if Clemson's opponent was the #1 team in the nation, I would always have confidence in the fact that our defense would show up for every game, and limit the opponent to very few points.
Which, would usually mean that Clemson wins if our offense would score 21-24 points. Remember this was during a time when Clemson's offense was a ball control offense, that would frequently use up 6 minutes off the clock.
I reflect back on this era of Clemson football, because I have been waiting for a long time to have that same confident feeling I had back in the 80's. I must say that this team has so many things in common with those kick ass teams Clemson had throughout the 80's. One very big difference is, this Clemson offense is soooooooo much more capable of putting up big numbers on the score board, instead of scoring on 5-8 minute drives, this offense will do it in seconds. Don't misunderstand me, I am fully aware that this offense can also eat up clock with 5-6 minute drives.
What a wonderful time in "Clemson Football"......
