Clemson Hosts Kentucky in 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge
CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson University men’s basketball will host Kentucky in the 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge. The matchup is slated for Tuesday, Dec. 3. Game time and network designation will be announced at a later date by ESPN.
With the addition of Kentucky to Clemson’s schedule, the Tigers will now host five of the top eight winningest programs in college basketball history in 2024-25 (Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, Syracuse and Notre Dame).
Season tickets start at $199, with new season ticket deposits now available here. Renewals, mini plans and single-game tickets will be available at a later date.
Clemson is 4-12 overall against Kentucky, including a 79-71 victory over a No. 3 Wildcat team on Nov. 15, 1996 in Indianapolis. The Tigers are 1-4 against the Wildcats at home
Twelve of the 16 matchups occurred between 1921 and 1933 when both Clemson and Kentucky primarily played against each other in the Southern Conference. Both teams would meet in 1939, 1979, 1996 and 1997.
Clemson returns Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) who broke out in the NCAA Tournament, helping lead the Tigers to their first Elite Eight since 1980. The Tigers also return Ian Schieffelin (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) who earned the ACC’s Most Improved Player award last season.
The Tigers signed Jaeden Zackery (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central/Boston College), Viktor Lakhin (Anapa, Russia/CSKA-2/Cincinnati), Christian Reeves (Charlotte, N.C./Oak Hill (Va.)/Duke and Myles Foster (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooks/Illinois State) this offseason. All four transfers join a freshmen class that includes Dallas Thomas (Little Rock, Ark./Parkview Magnet), Del Jones (Largo, Md./Arizona Compass Prep) and Ace Buckner (Cleveland, Ohio/La Lumiere School). The freshmen class ranks No. 20 in the country, according to 247Sports.
All of them join a returning core, which includes Chauncey Wiggins (Grayson, Ga./Grayson), Dillon Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake), Jake Heidbreder (Floyds Knobs, Ind/Floyd Central) and Asa Thomas (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest).
Clemson is 1-0 in the ACC/SEC Challenge after winning at No. 23 Alabama last year 85-77.
