I think our coaching staff has coached our team to not even bother trying to block a kick, so as a result the punting team doesn't have to max protect in an effort to thwart a potential block. This enables them to instead run down field and cover the punt.
I'm certainly not a football expert, but If we really want to improve our punt return game, then aren't we going to have to be much more aggressive in going after the block.....? I would assume this would keep more of their guys around the line of scrimmage for another split second and that would be enough time for Scott to do his thing or at least field the punt and not give up another 15-20 yards all the time.
