I’m very happy we won, but I was reminded during our pathetic 2nd half offensive performance where late in the game we had 21 yards of offense for the half about our first couple of years with Tommy Bowden.

Back then we had a very undersized OL which averaged about 270 lbs and we had good but not great quarterbacks. However we averaged 446 yards of offense and over 40 points a game in 2000. I don’t think anyone would argue that the talent on offense then was better than what we have now. I’ll bet our backup linemen now are better than our starters were then.

Bowden and Rodriguez were able to devise a system that would work with the talent that we had and it worked for the most part. We didn’t have halves like we experienced today.

My conclusion is that we have a coordinator/scheme problem. I realize that Pitt made adjustments to take away what we were doing in the first half, but we failed to adjust to their adjustments. I’ll bet Furman or Wofford could get more yards on Pitt than we got for most of the second half today.
