RIP to a great American

yikes at supporting a guy with these quotes:

"I’m not saying we should bring [slavery] back, I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.”

“Ladies, if you want a happy marriage, then do whatever your husband tells you without questioning his authority.”

"We need segregated buses."

“[African-Americans are] 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”

"So, Miss Fluke, and the rest of you feminazis, here's the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch."

You can choose to praise him if you want, but not sure that's the side of history I'd want to be on

Those quotes are obviously not good. I am personally not familiar with them. But all humans are complex, and maybe we shouldnt judge any human based individual quotes or actions. For example, let's now do MLK. MLK was a great leader and someone I would say who did great things. But now there is evidence that he was a womanizer who had affairs with over 40 women and even watched as a friend raped a woman in hotel room. Those are awful acts. Does it mean we should stop celebrating the good he did?
Now before the small minded people accuse me of equating Limbaugh with MLK. I am not. I am saying that maybe we shouldnt damn or diefy anyone based on a few quotes or actions. Humans are too complex for that. You can find enough bad about anyone to hate them or want to "cancel" them.

You are talking to a liberal. Have you listened to Rush's show? Do you really think we can see the good in the man? Be honest...
Why should a liberal be sad about his passing?

PS- your MLK allegations are a red herring as he didn't insult and defame conservatives for three hours a day for 30+ years

Limbaugh is a huge reason that the GOP became divisive and angry at everyone. Peace out dude

Exactly. I don’t think he would mind the hate, he knew what he was doing and how people would react to him...all for money.

I appreciate your tone and sentiment

However, these aren't just a few quotes. Limbaugh built his following by being brash, hateful, a bigot and a sexist and did it because he knew it would sell and make him money

The white supremacy comments in here are so amusing, talk about calling the kettle black.
Go back and look at your parties history!

It was the Democratic Party that supported slavery and the Confederacy.

Lincoln was a Republican and it was Lincoln who freed the slaves. During the Lincoln-Douglas debates it was Lincoln who called for the end of slavery and it was Douglas who wanted it to continue.

The KKK was founded as a militant arm of the Democratic Party.

The 14th Amendment was pushed through over the objections of the Democratic Party.

The Civil Rights Act was pushed through Congress by the Republican Party. The Democrats tried to filibuster it. The filibuster was lead by Robert Byrd and Al Gore, Sr.

The Democratic Party has elected members of the KKK to Congress. The aforementioned Robert Byrd was not only a recruiter for the KKK, he also rose to the position of “Exalted Cyclops” in his local chapter.

It was a Democratic president named Bill Clinton that made light of the KKK involvement in Democratic politics.

It was a Democratic governor named George Wallace who said: “In the name of the greatest people that have ever trod this earth, I draw the line in the dust and toss the gauntlet before the feet of tyranny, and I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever”

Martin Luther King was a registered Republican.

Democratic controlled cities across the land are in financial ruin.

I don’t understand why people come with the arguments that fail to account for the switch in the R and D parties that we learned about in middle school.
