I see lots of questions on what has caused these types of numbers. Take a look at what these teams did on the ground vs Goodwin's unit:

Rushing Yards
Georgia - 169 (most in 2nd half)
Stanford - 236
Louisville - 210
Citadel - 288
SC - 267
Texas - 292

The bottom line is this defense has THREE 5 star starters on it. We have tons of 4 star talent all around them. This isn't on the players. The talent is there. Those numbers show it. We are getting gashed by The Citadel and Stanford on the ground. We aren't "out-talented" by those two teams. The unit is out of position more times than not. So let's be clear, this isn't a talent issue. We need another DE or 2 for sure. We need to go get a great safety to help come downhill in the run game. But more than anything, we need to get back to being a fire breathing unit that gets after opposing teams. Right now, we are a passive unit from top to bottom. And that's why we got manhandled last night on the biggest stage.

By Comparison:
Texas rushing totals vs FBS teams

CSU - 190
Michigan - 143
Miss St - 198
Oklahoma - 177
Georgia - 29
Vandy - 104
Florida - 210
Arkansas - 134
Texas A&M - 243
Georgia - 31
Clemson - 292
