I'm 100% this will turn political because we are human and can't help ourselves but just wanted to share the latest from DHEC. They release a tweet with this info every day around 1:30. They update the dashboard more sporadically. Some of the charts don't update every day as they note in their titles.

I'll admit that when this all started I did think it would eventually go away. As months and months went on and more and more variants emerged, my belief it would go away has steadily declined.

And yes. Everything is politically motivated on both sides of the isle. But I really don't want to get into that in this thread. Just wanted to post real, unpolitically motivated, data about what is happening and post the link so others can keep an eye on it as well.

Well, I think we all know the Virus gives zero f*cks who you are or vote for. That's why China did what they did. They were politically motivated. China didn't release a virus on the world for "non political reasons" and lie and say it came from bats. Thats my opinion.

Sort of my point. The virus don't care, I don't care. I do the precautions because they make sense not because I'm reacting to political theater. People project politics on everything these days which forces people to react to that I suppose

My wife who works at PRISMA Health Richland got an email today on their internal update.

• Of our COVID inpatients across the Midlands, only 11.8% are fully vaccinated and 18.5% have received at least one dose.
• We have 53 Team Members out with a positive COVID test and we have another more than 30 Team Members out on quarantine.
• All of our campuses are at or near capacity – PHR is already on full-diversion this morning; Baptist is 100% occupied with 13 holds in the ED; and, Tuomey and Parkridge are in similar capacity situations.
• Please follow this link to our newly implemented visitation policy and updated PPE guidance for both vaccinated and unvaccinated Team Members.
• You can obtain a vaccination at either Employee Health or our vaccination/testing/infusion site in MP10.
• We have established a modified Incident Command Structure and are meeting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week; we will adjust if we need to meet more frequently.

Florida's rate of increase for both cases and % positives looked like it was beginning to slow last week. Curious what the numbers will look like Friday when they are published.

7/23 - 7/29: +37,243 more cases than the prior week.
7/30 - 8/5: +24,086 more cases than the prior week.
8/6- 8/12 Will be released on Friday 8/13.

While it's still increasing, it is a good sign that the bell curve could be rounding it's peak soon. Very curious what the numbers published on the 13th will be.

I completely understand that. I was simply asking what your suggestion is? What should we do to either stop it or counter it? Obviously the vaccine helps in deaths, but not cases. So if deaths are the target, the vaccine is the answer for .01% that may day from it. But what do we do about cases?

Dude- this “attorney” took 8 years to pass the bar and failed 5 times before getting admitted. He has only been licensed a whopping 2 years. I am a licensed attorney myself and took the time to read a few pages of his suit. It is absolutely pitiful in its structure. The suit was thrown out and the federal judge overseeing the case called it “incomprehensible.” Not exactly an expert.

I have a friend who posted the numbers in Charleston from the Roper System. It showed 78 inpatient due to Covid, 45% under the age of 60 (no further breakdown of age), of those only 2 were vaccinated. So this shows me unvaccinated are getting hit harder but 78 people in the hospital, ~ 35 being “young”, doesn’t seem like a huge # to me. I know it’s horrible for anyone to be dealing with this but I thought it was wayyyy more young people for some reason

Do you think the number of cases materially increases your risk? For example, if the cases rise by 10,000 what percentage increase in risk does that create?
Has anyone done the math to see what the increase in the risk of death is per number of cases?
That’s not a political question, but I’m too lazy to do the research and math.

If anyone wants to be taken seriously they need to analyze the risk and put it in accurate, quantifiable numbers.

The vaccine does help with cases, substantially. Need more people to get vaccinated. Need to try to manage the rate at which people are getting sick, very hard to do with delta, so as to not overwhelm hospital systems.

If you want to make a comparison, the better one is being a reckless driver. Sure they are idiots for driving reckless but their reckless behavior doesn't only affect them. It puts others around them in danger as well.

If the only difference between and unvaccinated person and a vaccinated person is the the vaccinated “may not get hospitalized and die” then I’m not sure how they are any more reckless than a vaccinated person. What do the vax have to worry about? You’re going to be just fine.
But it’s not stopping either of them from actually getting covid. Just allegedly “one has a better chance of not getting it as bad”. Is that not right?
Much more like a seatbelt. When you wreck you’re only effecting yourself. Not the other vehicle nor anyone in your vehicle. Just yourself.

FL Update:
3 straight weeks of rate of increase decline. Florida should be peaking and coming back down in the coming days.
