I'm watching the DUKE - Army game and had the thought:
''Why don't service academies switch the the spread offense?''
I know they have a difficult, up hill battle in recruiting kids that qualify academically and play football while maintaining PT standards. And I get that the triple option is a equalizer due to scheme.
But isn't the spread the new eqaulizer? Spread them out and let their "athletes" compete. I would think it's easier to recruit to the spread system (especially considering high schools are switching from the triple option/Wing-T to spread systems also).
Maybe it's just me but I think it would attract more potential student-athletes to the academies.
