Four people were killed in a plane crash near Lake Hartwell on Friday.

Sprint car driver Tony Elliott, 54, along with Charles Smith, 71, his son Scott Smith, 44, and Scott Bibler, 51, were on their way from Warsaw, Indiana, to the Notre Dame vs. Clemson game at Clemson, South Carolina, when their Piper Saratoga went down.

All four were residents of Warsaw. No one else was on the plane.

Elliott had won the USAC National Sprint Car Series in 1998 and 2000.
