I don't know how many of you watched the UNC/Illinois game, but Davis caught a TD pass during it and with that catch he's caught more TD passes than any WR in UNC history. Not that UNC has a hugely rich history of churning out WR's, but that is still quite impressive.
Not offering Davis was a mistake. Did it come back to bite us necessarily? No, because we signed a lot of high level guys, but man we could really use Davis right now with Williams out for what is most likely the rest of the season. It may not be Peake's fault, but Q. Davis is twice the WR he is at this point and he would be extremely valuable to have right now at Williams' spot. He would perfectly play the role of tall possession receiver for us and we could really count on him to go up and get those intermediate route passes that move the chains. Davis would also give us another legitimate red zone threat.
It just goes to show that you can never tell what's going to happen. We should've oversigned for Davis and we should offer Smith right now before we watch another likely elite receiver slip through our fingers and play for one of our rivals. JMO.
