I think we all remember that goal line stand and the DOA Tiger Offense in our game against Louisville.
But I wanted to look back as a cross section of their last 3 games last year and their first 2 games this year for a 5 game analysis which should include coaching trends, player turnover, and strength of various opponents...
here's an Odd Fact: Louisville D has given up an average of 34 points per game over the last 5 games.
In those stretch of games they are 2-3... with their wins coming over Ky (44-40) and ND (31-28) last year.
Last year their strength was their Offense. Again we remember the stagnant O we had in our game with them, but in reality, last year they collapsed during the last half of the season on defense and have been somewhat suspect since.
If anything the stats show their strength again to be their Offense with the Cards only off of their 31.5 PPG average from last year by 3 points so far this year (27.5 PPG) And with Patrino that shouldn't be a shock.
I guess all I am saying is that I think the Louisville defense is more suspect than we think, and their offense has kept them in the games more so than we think... which kinda makes for a great match-up, as many people are not sold on our Offense yet (due to youth not lack of talent) and see our Defense coming back strong.
This game should not come down to Special Teams, but if it does then again the odd data shows that is in our favor as Louisville has given up big play after big play on Special Teams.
Don't get me wrong, I never chalk up anything as a sure thing. I respect that program and I think their head coach has football smarts (I don't respect him though). It'll be a fun time at night under the lights, but other than someone working themselves into a lather over our uniforms, I suspect we will find out that our Tigers are fairly good and it would not surprise me to see someone else than #4 take a knee to end this game with a victory for the Tigers.
