1300 drop in the DOW today. 4% loss.

14% loss YTD

But hey, the inflation is just transitory right? I have an idea. Let's pass another trillion dollar Green /Infrastructure/Stimulus deal. That ought help. Maybe we can give the 4 million illegal aliens that have entered the country in the past two years a free house and college education.

Midterms will soon be here.

They all just extended their retirement 10 years thanks to a totally broken financial market. They are big mad
So what are you seeing on your end as far as the markets go. I'm a S&P futures trader (mainly) and the volatility is insane right now.

Long only funds are basically getting bent over, especially those without good hedge strategies on futures/options end. Global macro also getting f*cked. The shops that are printing money are huge vol or stat arb desks with very liquid strategies (Citadel vol/stat arb up HUGE this year). Good fixed income hedgies that trade variable rate products also doing well given the fed hikes, seeing lots of money flowing back into FICC at the moment, especially on the derivatives side. Lots of shops are changing their duration models. Lots of firms are investing in better central risk tools also, which tells you they expect more carnage.

The reality for most FA's/wealth managers is they are going to have a rough year + as they can't be as nimble as sophisticated shops and can't afford the tax implications of moving in and out.

The only trade I'm doing on my own at the moment is VIX related products. The market has had 8 3% bounces this year, that's unheard of. The VIX products are pretty reliable if you're patient and time it well. I didn't get out soon enough so now stuck with the usual blue chip long holds for longer term portfolio.

Don't worry, they are going to use another one sided Jan 6th hearing right as the elections ramp up to distract everyone from the real world issues like inflation............. Dems a little bit more worried than we thought?
