Thank You DeAndre Hopkins

Excuse me, Mr semantics. They are BLUDGEONING players into taking it. That better?
No, bludgeoning is beating someone about the head. And you can throw out the semantics, but nothing is being done to anyone against their will. Nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head and threatening their life.

What you described is assault. Threatening a person's livelihood is being pretty forceful. I also wonder where this falls in the CBA?
As I said before, it's their league. If DeAndre doesn't like it there are many other professions he can choose to pursue.

This is what confuses me. Who owns the NFL? The 32 owners? If so why would they sign off on this? It will only hurt them in the end.
I doubt it will. These guys pay very qualified people to assess risk, and based on this strong stance they're taking I'd guess the risk associated with outbreaks will hurt them more.

noun
  1. a short, heavy club with one end weighted, or thicker and heavier than the other.
verb (used with object)
  1. to strike or knock down with a bludgeon.
  2. to force into something; coerce; bully: The boss finally bludgeoned him into accepting responsibility.

Ah, hoisted on my own patard. So yes, nobody is bludgeoning them to get the vaccine.

While they may not use the word force when they threaten your game checks and will fine a team I think that is using money as a forceful way to get what they deem as right.
Not defending either side….I’m all about one’s right to choose but hope that they would have all of the correct information when making that decision for themselves and their families.

But…if I miss a bunch of work because I get covid or we have an outbreak at my office, my financial situation will most definitely be adversely effected. Just reality for some of us.

Good for him. No one should be forced to inject themselves with anything. BTW, there are ALOT of Players who also agree with Nuk's stance.

Is the NFL forcing every player to get the vaccine? I havent seen any news reports that say so. Maybe let’s hit the pause button on all the arguing and bickering until it gets to that point, if it even gets there at all, shall we?

I really cannot understand why people that are vaccinated (protected from the everything and anything Covid related) are hell bent on everyone else being vaccinated as well. I mean you protected yourself for your safety. So why would it matter to you if anyone else took the same personal protections?
Because the unvaccinated are mutation factories for more variants, some of which could be vaccine resistant.

The NFL players feel they are being forced. Several have spoken out about this very thing. This thread was based off of Hopkins' feeling of being forced.

over a 99% chance of survival either way man. Flu is also in the category of "more variants", never seen anybody argue this much over the flu.

It’ll sort itself out. Whatever leverage people think college football pliers have, nfl players have that x100. If enough don’t want to have to take the vaccine it won’t be mandatory

Ok. Fair enough. What if a person has had Covid and has the natural antibodies. Would you say they are "vaccinated".

The antibodies that person would have would be against the particular variant with which he or she was infected. Those antibodies would not necessarily be effective against a new variant. The likelihood of vaccine- and current antibody-resistant strains of SARS-CoV-2 increases as the virus mutates further. That is the issue with people who do not wish to be vaccinated.

Please name some off the field problems he has caused. TIA
Shooting birds at people while driving on the highway into Phoenix, refusing to claim Clemson as his alma mater and generally acting like a malcontent while he makes countless millions of dollars in the greatest country in the world playing a sport he obviously loves.
While I’m aware that he was shooting birds at people who were Trump supporters (and I have no intention of making this about politics), but why does he feel the need to be a dick like that? I frown on anyone who is confrontational with his politics on either side of the aisle.

No, actual factual data. I know that some don't like to play that game, but it's true nonetheless.
Hey dumbass, how many people who have been vaccinated have died of the vaccine or Covid? Now compare that number to the amount of unvaccinated that have died of Covid over the same period. Pretty simple.

Gets annoying seeing the same anti-vaxxer idiots show up to dumb this place down every time anything Covid or vaccine related happens.

Let the players know they intend to play the games Regardless of Covid findings. By now everyone has had plenty of time to be educated on pros and cons and make a personal decision. I can see why people would choose either option. You can get Covid whether you are vaxxed or not. Yes, the percentages may change with or without a vaccine but Nothing is 100% guaranteed. Seems like we keep trying for a 100% solution when it is not necessary to safely move forward.
100% solution is not a possiblility
So a person either has to support everything a person says/does or nothing at all? There is no in between? No middle ground?
Nope

Are you sure it’s not the exact opposite?

You mean the vaccine that was released after the death rate dropped from .05% to almost non-existent? lol

You mean like the decades of CDC predicting which type of Influenza ( remember that? It was cured forever last year. Hooray!) you MIGHT get.

If it's a different one............... ooops.

It’s like all this tribalism has made people completely forget that we just had all these harsh public health measures for a year, and that vaccine requirements have been a thing for a long time. By the time the season starts, Pfizer will probably be fully FDA approved, too.
