But here is a real rarity, a Gamecock that I actually agree with:
There's a few reasons....whether or not some want to acknowledge this is another story, but here are some facts:
1 Dabo is a great recruiter. Hands down one of the best in the country. Facts back it up.
2 They, like us, have a great gameday product.
3 Many kids want to go to a family atmosphere, that which Dabo promotes (as compared to SOS who is "take em or leave em......we can win without you" attitude).
4 Their facilities are very impressive. I had an opportunity (via work) to see their indoor facility and what they're building to go with it, and it is as good as I've seen on any campus (Bama included).
5 They've had some pretty impressive wins the last few years including the BCS game over OSU. Our 5-year run over them was about the only bad thing that program has had to endure and last year with a 1-legged QB, they took care of that.
6 Another fact is the "on-campus" stadium is important to a lot of recruits. Listen to what they say on game-day visits and it's much different than what you hear from our recruits. Our recruits talk about our fans, the stadium, etc.....their recruits on game-days always refer to what's buzzing on campus before the games.
7 They're now one of maybe 3 or 4 schools to win 10 games back to back to back, finish in the Top 25 for 4 or 5 years in a row, beat multiple ranked SEC teams, so they're producing now. Plus, Bama is the only team in the country to have a longer string than Clemson of not losing to a team that's not ranked. They win all the games they're supposed to and some they're not supposed to. Compare that to some of our losses (even during our 3-year heyday) to bad teams (e.g. UT) and you start to understand.
8 Many players these days are attracted to coaches with faith. Their staff by in large make no apologies for their faith.....and that is actually pretty cool.
With all that said, we don't have what they have, but we've got some things they don't. I just don't think SOS cares to work it. Dabo drools recruiting, and recruiting is the heartbeat of your program. Clowney and Lattimore only carried us for so long.....
