Listening to 105.5 this morning, the discussed getting Venables and Riley. Both were hires outside Dabo's sphere of connections. The Riley hire happened because Dabo talked to Lincoln Riley and was told his brother would move for the right job.
Going public is setting up back channel communication from interested parties. Maybe the defensive coach at Penn State doesn't want to work for James Franklin (who would?). There are certainly situations were coaches are having their roster churned with NIL and want more stability (Ole Miss?). Hopefully we get a pleasant surprise.
