Throwing fuel on the fire...(shootings)

I know there has been a lot of discussion on this and I'm pretty firmly in the middle of it all as far as what has been said on this board. That being said, can someone help me understand why this hasn't been discussed on the national media outlets yet? I'll hang up and listen....

Can't help you other than it doesn't fit the narrative. Also, today in Valdosta, Ga, an officer responding to a "damage to property" call, was ambushed by the caller and shot multiple times. He managed to draw his own weapon and return fire. Last I heard they were both in hospital and still alive.

A good reading on all of this controversy is a book, "The War on Cops". It goes back into some history of this and has quite a bit of professional statistical analysis that you don't see anywhere. It also shoots down some of the statistical analysis that you see everywhere.

It made national headlines. Both the story and the "white lives matter" protest aspect. It was also brought up by someone in one of the threads.

I wonder how many legit criminal acts will be committed over the next few weeks and police will be too late in responding from being overly cautious.

@rladams5 I frequent several different news websites every day and I don't ever remember seeing it on the headlines. I just find it odd that it has happened around the same time as these other shootings, yet it doesn't get lumped into the same category with discussion. I'm not a conspiracy theory guy at all, but the more stuff like this happens the more I think the media promotes racial divide. And to reiterate, I'm more on the side that thinks blacks are unfairly more often targeted.

The protesters sure handled like I would expect a mob of rednecks waving the confederate flag and WLM flags.

That aside, that kid didn't deserve to die and I hurt for his family. Hope for justice.

I don't get why people feel like it's morally impossible to oppose senseless violence in all forms. It's not morally impossible to oppose senseless violence against police while also recognizing and opposing racial disparities in police shootings. I do not want black people getting killed at traffic stops or selling CDs. I don't want cops getting sniped. I don't want children shot at schools, and I don't want innocent people getting killed bc of their sexual preference.

And if you think that teenagers are getting disproportionately killed at the hands of the police, there is nothing stopping you from getting a crowd together and protesting.
So it's ok to understand BLM while also condemning unecessary police violence against all people w/o being cynical to the plight of a specific group.

Life is already complicated. This concept shouldn't be one of them.

@MF123 I wasn't directing anything I said at BLM. My focus was the media.

I feel u. And I should have clarified that my comments weren't directed at you. It's just something i noticed on this board and just in talking to people. I didn't want to start a thread about it, and figured this was the most appropriate thread to post my thoughts.
Apologies if it came across as if I were attacking u directly @CU1TruTiger4Life

This absolutely will happen. Spoke to a cop about this. We will revert back to VERY slow response times in certain areas. Not saying it's right at all, but it will happen.

Apparently they shot him because they thought he was black. We know that the police are not trigger happy with white suspects. All the police shootings are because of skin color.

If a white guy had straddled Zimmerman and started pounding his head into the concrete, no way the white Hispanic would have shot him like he did Obama's virtual son, Trayvon.

I don't watch CNN and Fox Nes and all that so I can't say if it has or hasnt but it's been all over social media. Even BLM protestors have tweeted it and talked about it. Even making picture collages with him and the three other men that have been killed by the police in the last 72 hours.

@LVC11 I couldn't find it anywhere else. Proving my point that it wasn't on the "headlines". At that point I googled it and that's where it popped up first.

Just the opposite of young girls that go missing. If it's a white girl with blond hair it is national news. Young black girl goes missing and crickets. Sad but true.

Yep. Or how a white serial killer, terrorist, or sniper actually makes it to trial to be judged by 12. Color him darker, he's gone on sight and carried by 6.

To much hate going on for me in these threads. Both ways. I hope as a country we can work through these thing because right now I'm worried we are not far from a point where things will only continue to escalate.

I think I'll just go back to waiting for football to start. I wish all my fellow Clemson Tigers health and safety in these difficult times.

it does not fit the current, hottest , story line. I won't say "agenda". I have discussed this horrible incident with several friends. I learned of it on facebook, I believe. The shooter, now fired, cop, looks, sounds like bad news. Between technology, training, we should have already resolved these deadly encounters. There's a fortune to be made with non-lethal , effective decapacitation.
