Remember on the campaign trail when Trump said getting into wars in the Mideast was a bad idea and that we should get out of Afghanistan? (FWIW, I agree with him here) Well, now that he actually has to back up his campaign promises, he's apparently going to send MORE troops in. Sounds like a "surge" to me absent the public "timeline" that Obama gave (Which was one of the more stupid things Obama did).

I honestly don't know what to think about it? Except of course that Trump is full of shiit and you can't believe what comes out of his mouth (but I already knew that).

I'm not sure what the winning strategy is here. As far as I can tell, Afghanistan isn't even a real place, just some lines the English drew on a map when they were dividing up their Empire into areas of governance. Like Iraq, the people here don't have any sense of nationalism and some are even traditional enemies. I'm not sure how you get folks that have been killing each other for a thousand years or so to live happily together without putting someone so bad in charge that the tribes are actually afraid to fight each other (see Tito in former Yogoslavia and Hussian of Iraq).

I guess that Trump's plan (after the exhaustive review of everything) is to simply do what Bush and Obama have done...LOL. Namely, continue to fight the Taliban (with MORE troops) and hope that somehow the Afghan army is going to somehow "step up" all of a sudden after they've been shiiting the bed for the last 16 years. That's going work.

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm with Steve Bannon on this one. Time to get out. I hate that idea nearly as much as the Trump plan above. But the old saying that which must be done eventually should usually be done immediately. If we have no winning plan here (can anyone actually SEE the Afghan army becoming a real force capable of standing alone? I could be wrong, but I just don't see that after 16 years of NOT doing it) then just get the f out. Sooner or later, we will have to. Anyone want to be here 16 MORE years down the road in the same place?

I honestly don't have any idea what the proper course of action is here. Just pointing out yet another case of Trump pandering to his disciples on the campaign trail, promising simple solutions to complex problems and failing to deliver. I'll hang up and listen to his loyal minions explain how this same plan as Bush and Obama went with is actually completely different and will succeed in spectacular manner.

On a positive note, Jared is over there to fix the Israel/Arab problem, so that's at least taken care of. Peace in the middle east at last.
