Due to some request here is my updated rivals 250 breakdown for the 2020 class. Really should be a special class for Clemson and one of the better overall classes in recent memory.
1. DJ Uiagalelei - QB from California. What more is there to say about this guy. He is not Trevor Lawrence as a prospect, but he is a better prospect that Deshaun Watson. One of the better QB prospects over the last 5 years. Big time Clemson lean with Oregon and Oklahoma also in the mix. Hard to imagine him not being the headliner of this class and on the commitment board by the Spring Game at the latest
3. Justin Flowe - LB from California. Most years could be a #1 prospect in the country in his own right. Has a Clemson offer and displayed interest, but seems to be an extreme longshot. The real USC will be hard to beat. Oregon and Alabama are also contenders. Future top 10 NFL pick
5. Bryan Bresee - DE from Maryland. Another guy who could make a case for being a number 1 prospect in the country. Very similar prospect to the Bosa brothers. Recently visited for the South Carolina game and it certainly improved our standing. We are at the top of the list with Ohio State and Penn State. I still think Ohio State will be hard to beat here, but we atleast have a good chance.
6. Sa'vell Smalls - DE from Washington. Came down and visited for the summer and seemed to have a lot of interest in our program. With that said he never made it down for a game this fall and our position seems to have faded. Much more of a speed rusher than Bresee and could also project as an OLB. Alabama, Washington and to a lesser extent Florida State also have a good chance.
7. Paris Johnson Jr. OT from Ohio - Ohio State commit who visited over the summer before ultimately committing to Ohio State. Was close to Meyer so maybe he opens things up. Still seems like a real longshot. Clearly the top OT prospect in my opinion.
8. Kelee Ringo - CB from Arizona. Big fast corner that has a Clemson offer. Seemed excited about the offer, but has nothing has become of it. Has the chance to be an elite corner or safety. Washington and Texas appear to have the most traction early.
9. Arik Gilbert - TE from Georgia. Big athletic TE. Reminds me a lot of OJ Howard. Visited for the South Carolina game and seemed genuinely interested in our program after the visit. Still feels to me like the kind of recruitment that Georgia or Alabama ultimately win.
10. Antoine Sampah - LB from Virginia - Visited over the summer and in the fall for a game. Very physical ILB that has some of the best LBer tape in recent memory. We have a slight lead early, but I feel like this is a recruitment that might go a long way. Virginia, VT, UNC, Bama and others will probably be a factor. This recruitment will probably depend on how quickly we fill up at LBer.
11. Myles Murphy - DE from Georgia. This is a recruitment that Venables and Bates have seemed to sink their teeth in early. Has visited multiple times and seems like a Clemson type kid. With that said Georgia and Auburn are not going to go away easily here. Alabama might also become a factor, but I think it comes down to Clemson and Georgia.
14. Justin Rogers - OG from Michigan - Visited over the summer, but nothing has become of it. Georgia of course seems to be the favorite.
15. Julian Fleming - WR from Penn - Best WR in this class in my opinion. Displayed interest in visiting a couple of games, but never made it down. Penn State has a good lead over Ohio State
16. Darnell Washington TE from Nevada. This guy is truly a monster. Has the size to be an offensive tackle prospect, but the athleticism to be a WR. he and Gilbert are the two best TE prospects I have seen in the last 4 classes. Will be interesting to see if we can get him on campus this after the playoff.
18. Mekhail Sherman - OLB from Washington DC. Great athlete from the LBer position. Has a Clemson offer, but seems like an Ohio State lock.
19. Marshawn Lloyd - RB from Maryland. One of a few RBers on our radar. Had a nice jump to 5 star in the rankings, but I'm not sold he is a 5 star. I like another back we are targeting much better. Penn State lean
20. Mckinnley Jackson - DT from Miss. Recent offer that was supposed to visit late in the season, but his trip got cancelled. Ton of potential, but has to play more consistent. Hard to imagine us beating out Bama, Miss State, Ole Miss or Texas A&M here.
23. Kevin Pyne - OT from MA. Received an early offer from us. Saw us play against Boston College. The type of kid we need to shoot for with 3 OL commits already on board. Notre Dame leads with Boston College second.
25. Tate Rutledge - OT from Georgia - He is either going to Georgia or Alabama.
28 Reggie Grimes - DE from TN - Could also play OLB. A kid that Venables and the staff are really high on. Has visited over the summer and for a game this fall. He is a Bama legacy and will be a tough pull from Alabama. Tennessee also has a chance. With that said he seems like a Clemson kid and I wouldn't rule Dabo out just yet.
31. Demarkus Bowman - RB from Florida - This is a kid I love. This is who I was referring to when I said there is another RB I like better that is ranked lower. Very explosive and powerful back. Wish we would go ahead and offer. We would be the favorite if we offer soon. One of four elite level backs in this years class in my opinion slightly behind Zachary Evans and Kendall Milton and pretty even with Jase Mcclellan
32. Jordan Burch - DE from South Carolina - I think this kid is a 5 star talent. Goes to Hammond where Will Muschamps son is the QB and former Gamecock QB Eric Kimrey is the head coach. With that said he appears to be a Clemson lean and we have done a great job in this recruitment. Plays RB and DE in high school. Could play TE in college, but I think that would not be in his best interest.
37. RJ Mickens - CB from Texas Could also play safety. He has visited this summer and fall and has displayed a lot of interest in our program. With that said I'll believe it when I see it as far as landing an elite player from Texas. Texas A&M and Ohio State are the other 2 main contenders.
38 Tank Bigsby - ATH from Georgia - I like him best as a safety, but he could play running back as well. As you know Bowman is my guy at RB for this class though. Georgia has to be considered the favorite. Auburn and South Carolina have done a good job recruiting him as well. I like Bigsby, but top 50 seems a little high for him.
39. Bryson Eason - ILB from TN. Visited for camp over the summer. Has shot up the rankings. Rivals is higher on him than I am. I like guys like Sergio Allen and Kevin Swint better. Oklahoma is the favorite, but his recruitment has a long way to go.
43. Darrion Henry - DE from Ohio. Henry visited over the summer for camp and called Clemson his favorite. But he hasn't come back in the fall. Depending on how hard we pursue I could see us becoming a factor again. Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State are also at the top of the list
46. Turner Corcoran - OT from Kansas - Had a very deserving and nice rise up the rankings. Has a Clemson offer and someone like Pyne that I think we should shoot for. With that said I think he lands at Nebraska and helps Scott Frost turn around that program. Ohio State is also involved.
48. Porter Rooks - WR from NC. Brother played basketball at Clemson. Recent NC State commit. A good kid who should be a solid WR at the college level, but is not a top 50 recruit and not a kid that Jeff Scott really pursued.
57. Demon Clowney - DE from MD - Clowney's cousin with a badass name. Our most recent 2020 offer. Not the same level of prospect as his older cousin and I think he is ranked too high based on upside and name. Should be a top 150 to 225 kid in my opinion
64. Daniyel Ngata - RB from California. Brother of current WR commit Joe Ngata. Would be a nice backup option if Bowman doesn't turn out. We still haven't offered and we know Elliot is patient and picky with his offers. Could see him doing his own thing and going to Washington or Nebraskas
67. Desmond Evans - DE from North Carolina. Really high upside kid that I think is a high risk/reward prospect. I could see him being a first round pick or never putting on the weight and being a bust in college. I think this is a fair ranking. North Carolina and NC State will be factors. With that said I like our chances if we focus in and make him a priority target.
71. Zykeivous Walker - DE from Georgia. Visited for camp over the summer. We have not offered to my knowledge. He seems more like an Auburn, Florida State or Georgia type of kid.
72. Henry Gray - CB from Florida. Current Miami commit. Very talented corner prospect, who Mike Reed went down and visited last week. Long way to go in this recruitment.
73. Luke Hill - CB from Washington DC. Working on the title of being the longest TI projection in history. Almost has committed to Clemson atleast twice. Very good cover corner. Hopefully he makes it down for our elite junior day and commits.
74. Cameron Roseman-Sinclair - S from NC. This is a kid that intrigues me. I really want to watch his junior film. He was supposed to visit multiple times, but I don't know if he actually made it. Virginia Tech, North Carolina and possibly NC State are factors. We could possibly pull rank if we were to offer.
77. Jamil Burroughs - DT from Georgia. Georgia commit who had strong interest in Clemson before committing to Georgia.
80. Kalel Mullings - OLB from MA. He has visited for the South Carolina game and has a strong interest in Clemson and I think we lead. Notre Dame and Michigan also have a chance, but this kid reminds me a lot of Dorian O'Daniel in a lot of ways. I just feel like he will end up being a Clemson Tiger.
86 Kristian Story - ATH from Alabama. Former Tennessee commit that plays QB in high school. Should be a good DB in college. Alabama is the clear favorite, but he does like Clemson and Penn State
95. Demonte Capehart - DT from South Carolina. Current Clemson commit that is a big time defensive tackle prospect that had a poor camp showing that led to the drop in his overall ranking. I think he winds up a top 50 to 75 prospect.
101. Keshawn Lawrence - ATH from Tennessee - This is a kid that I really like. He fell in the rankings, but I'm not sure why. I think he is a top 75 athlete in this class. Could play WR or DB in college. Tennessee and others will be factors, but this kid likes Clemson and Lemanski Halls daughter goes to school with him. I think we are the favorite and would like us to go ahead and push here
103. EJ Williams - WR from Alabama - Had a really good junior season. Good fluid athlete that is from the same school as Justyn Ross and Ray Thornton. Auburn had an early lead, but our offer halted that. I think he winds up at Clemson with Ross and Thornton.
118. Darius Snow - S from Texas - A lot like Mickens I'll believe it when I see it, but Snow has shown a lot of interest in Clemson. His father played in the NBA. Michigan State and Texas are the top 2 suitors.
120. Jacolbe Cowan - DE from NC. Big DE that reminds me some of a slightly less athletic Austin Bryant. Has visited multiple times, but I don't think the Clemson staff is as high on him as other staffs and recruiting services. Georgia, Tennessee and others are involved, but I don't think his recruitment has taken shape.
124 Kedrick Bingley-Jones- DE from NC. Another big DE from NC that has interest in NC, but I'm not sure Clemson has that much interest in him. Current Florida commit who has visited us this fall. Could be a good fall back option if our top targets like, Burch, Bresee, Murphy, Grimes and Evans fall through.
126 Tyler Baron - DE From TN. Recent visitor and offer. Teammate of Keshawn Lawrence and has a connection with Coach Hall. Tennessee, FSU and VT seem to be his top 3, but if we pursue hard to imagine we couldn't get in the mix.
134. Derek Wingo - OLB from FL. Early offer from Clemson, but haven't heard anything recently. I like Sergio Allen, Sampah, Swint, Mullins and others better. Miami and Ohio State appear to be the 2 favorites with Penn State also in there.
139. Phillip Webb - OLB from GA. Another recent offer and fast rising in the rankings. Visited for the South Carolina game. Intrigued by this recruitment. Do we push early or does Georgia sink its teeth in and get an early commitment. One of 5 linebackers that I really like that we are pursuing.
140. Mitchell Mayes - OT from NC. Big kid from NC who ranking services seem to be all over the place on. NC State has done a good job recruiting him, but I think he is one we can really lock in on and try to lock up. I think he winds up as a RT or an athletic offensive guard. Really like this kid and hope he winds up a Tiger.
154. BJ Ojulari - DE from Georgia. His older brother is currently a Georgia Bulldog. Not quite the prospect his brother was in my opinion. Visited for the South Carolina game, but if Georgia wants him hard to see him elsewhere
157 Marcus Dumervil - OT from Florida. Big athletic kid who is more potential than player right now. I don't think his recruitment has taken shape yet. Recent Bama offer.
162. Tre Williams - DT from Washington DC. A kid that rose up the rankings, but not enough in my opinion. I think he is a top 100 prospect. Teammate of Luke Hill and Mekhail Sherman. I think Ohio State probably has a slight lead over Clemson at this point
166. Kevin Swint. OLB from Georgia. Could also be a DE, but I think he winds up at OLB. He fell a bit in the rankings, but I think the 125-175 range is fair. I like the kid a lot as a player. He is a Clemson lean, but should go ahead and commit soon or people like Sampah, Webb, or Mullings might take his spot.
169. JJ Evans - WR from Alabama - A lot like EJ Williams this is a kid who has flown up the rankings with a huge Junior season. Was supposed to be on campus for the South Carolina game, but chose the Iron Bowl instead. Will be interesting to see how his recruitment turns out because it appears to just be getting started.
171. Daijun Edwards - RB from Georgia. One of numerous potential running back targets.
174. Myles Murphy - DE from NC. The 2nd defensive end Myles Murphy on this list. A fast riser that Clemson hasn't pursued yet, but could be a factor with if they desire.
175. Bryn Tucker - OT from TN. Doesn't yet have a Clemson offer, but has visited multiple times. I think he is underrated here. Certainly should be a top 150 kid. Tennessee is probably the favorite. A Clemson offer might change that.
179. Sergio Allen - LB from Georgia. Really like this kid a lot. Current Clemson commit. Physical and athletic LBer that I'm glad jumped on board early. I think he is underrated as well.
182. Luke Doty - QB from South Carolina. Current South Carolina commit that wanted a Clemson offer but was slow played for DJU. Very good athlete, but questions remain about his size and passing ability at the college level.
186. Robby Ashford - QB from Alabama. I cannot understand how this kid is rated behind Doty. I am higher on this kid than most but I think he is a top 75 talent and top 3 QB in this class. Auburn is the favorite, but if DJU goes elsewhere I would expect us to turn up the heat.
187. Jaylen Harrell - OLB from Florida . Had an early Clemson offer, but I think our LBer pursuits have focused elsewhere. Looks like a Florida type of player.
190. Timothy Smith - DT from Florida - Big athletic kid who's recruitment has gone pretty quite. Clemson, Alabama and FSU have all had traction with him at one point or another, but I haven't heard anything new on him in a while.
195. Jalen RIvers - OT from Florida. Big drop in the rankings that I don't understand. I think he is a top 100 type of prospect. Could play either tackle position in my opinion. Has been to Clemsons camp multiple years and we have a connection, but the Florida schools will be tough to beat. His ranking drop is perplexing to me.
200. Paul Tchio - OT from Georgia. Our most recent 2020 commit. I think this is a fair ranking for him. Some others have him slightly higher, which I could see as well. Good kid and athlete for his size from the Oline position. I project him more as a guard than tackle in college
211. Joquavious Marks - RB from Georgia. Another RB that could come onto our radar later in the process.
216. Tonka Hemingway - DL from South Carolina. Good player and great name. Clemson could land if they wanted too, but I just don't see Clemson going this far down the board at the dline position. Profiles better as a DT than DE.
219. John Williams - OT from Georgia. Current commit that makes his rankings debut. I like Williams, but was a little surprised to see him this high in the initial rankings. Plays with a mean streak and should be a solid right tackle in the future once he adds weight.
237. Alex Huntley - DT from South Carolina. Same school as Jordan Burch. Appears to be a South Carolina or Georgia lean. I ultimately think he lands at South Carolina. Big kid, but I don't think he is a top 250 talent.
Surprise omission. Jalin Hyatt - I know he is skinny, but if Huntley is a top 250 player then so is Hyatt. I expected him to rise up the rankings and think ultimately he is a top 200 type prospect. He has legit speed and will be a very good college WR. I think he is the 3rd best prospect in the state after Burch and Capehart. Hyatt should be a Tiger if/when we offer.
