Just want to give you a heads up before it happens so your heads don’t explode.

Delta airlines announced it will charge unvaccinated $200 in surcharges to help cover losses incurred because of covid positive employees healthcare needs.

Confident this and vaccine mandates will only become more popular as costs in healthcare and productivity losses because of covid positive employees and contact tracing mount.

A few points to make prior to the civil conversation that I’m sure will follow.

- Biden will have nothing to do with these business policies. Purely business making business decisions.
- There is tons of precedent of this in the past. It has never been seen as oppressive or unfair before.
- People have the right to quit their jobs if they disagree, just as people homeschool their kids instead of giving them any of the vaccines required by daycares and public schools.
- FDA has given full approval for use of the vaccine. There are no other steps needed.
- Data has shown risks of getting covid to far outweigh minute risks of getting vaccine.

One quick correction, the Biden admin including state governments put pressure on organizations to mandate vaccines rather than mandate them at the federal level. So what's the fundamental difference? Is Delta for example really going to cross the federal government?

Another example, Goldman received a MASSIVE tax abatement when they built their shiny new office in Manhattan, they had no intentions of coming back until 2022 and were pressured by NYC/NY senior officials to return in the spring of 2021 because of the HUGE tax shortage the city facing. Same with JPM and other large institutions.

Personally, I don't care as I already took both shots and I don't really see the downside but, the data doesn't necessarily indicate the vaccine is preventing the spread. While I get that there is some data that shows it lessens the severity or prevents the likelihood of a hospital stay, there will always be a percentage of people that question the point of it as the government has continuously pushed the message that the vaccine gets rid of the virus and we all go back to normal (Fauci currently doing this) . They need to fix the messaging.

This will be no different than the folks that refuse to give their kids measles, smallpox, chicken pox, polio etc. There will always be someone that doesn't trust it.......always and they will eventually find legal ways around it.

Not sure I follow how company vaccine mandates and municipalities utilizing business development strategies (in this case recruitment through tax incentives) have anything to do with each other…but I’ll concede, sure political pressure can be put on business, but business will only do what’s in the best interest of business. And that’s the bottom line.

While there has been a higher breakthrough rate with Delta, there remains efficacy that reduces spread and drastically reduces health care costs. But that’s a whole different debate.

Like I said, people do have a choice. Don’t like the rules the company you work for has set? Go find a different source of income.

My point was that you shouldn't underestimate government control of corporations for many many many reasons such as taxes, sanctions, compliance, restrictions etc. Whilst publicly, they may not say we are forcing this, the threat of those pressures means that they are indeed forcing it.

I like your last statement.......I like to apply to it to the folks crying about minimum wage and equity also so at least we are in agreement there.

some data? I think the data is overwhelming and obvious at this point (unless you spend your nights watching fully vaccinated people on conservative TV cast doubt on vaccines).

Compared to unvaccinated people, “If you’re (fully) vaccinated now, your chances of getting infected go down by 3 1/2-fold,” National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Francis Collins said August 1.

“Your chances of having symptoms go down by 8-fold. Your chance of ending up with illness significant enough to be in the hospital goes down 25-fold.”

Such decreases in infections, illnesses and hospitalizations are “fantastically good for any vaccine,” Collins said. “We didn’t really have a right to dare they would be this good in the real world, and they are — even against Delta.”

Still, more than 99.99% of people who were fully vaccinated against Covid-19 have not had a breakthrough case that resulted in hospitalization or death.

Dude, if this prevents the necks from traveling by air, I might start flying again.

I think it’s government control by corporations is what should worry you. But potAto, potato.

If mandates to get vaxxed come, I can see someone(s) filing lawsuits. Its your choice to kill babies but not your choice to deny a vaccine.
As I said in the original post….

It’s important to note the FDA has not given approval to any experimental gene therapy currently being given out.

Everything you posted is bull. People who have had the virus are immune, people who haven't are not. It is that simple. It doesn't matter if you have the vaccine or not before still getting it if they have it had covid already. Injecting yourself with the virus/vaccine helps build immunity but doesn't touch the immunity of people who have already contracted the virus and have been fine aka 99% of all cases reported. You can still get sick if you had the vaccine, you can still spread, if you had the vaccine you can still end up in the hospital, if you had the vaccine you can still die from the virus and the vaccine itself can cause a plethora of serious problems or even death to some people.

You've not heard of the mu variant. It will kill us all...along with the coin shortage and net neutrality.

Except there are no real requirements to have your kids vaccinated to go to school. All you have to do is submit a health or religious waiver and they can attend without being vaccinated.

You left out the word "legitimate." You cannot just say its against my religion or that you are allergic and continue to send your kid to school...that's not how it works.

And why would you think employers would not have the came fine print.

When it comes to religion, legitimate is in the eye of the beholder.

Because employers don't want people to get around it.

For employers, it will always be about the bottom line. Businesses don't want to get sued. They also don't want their employees (how they generate income) to be out of work for weeks on end because they are sick at high rates.

There will always be gray area. But that won't stop the mandates and it certainly won't make the mandates easy to bypass.

I’ve posted about my QANON Trump loving friend before. He never followed politics until 2015 and Trump. He is a firm believer in QANON pizza gate, red hats vs blue shirts, Denver Airport, everything …..and of course he is a anti-vaxxer…

he had COVID about a month ago and I thought that would straighten him out BUT he only had a mild case and it has emboldened him more. When he had COVID he refused to quarantine or wear a mask when he went out in public.

he bragged to me that he bought fake COVID Cards for him and his wife. And two weeks ago texted me to see if I wanted a “form” to get an exemption for my kids so they didn’t have to wear masks in school. I told him I was good. These “forms” aren’t official or anything, but rather canned letters he pulled off of Derp Facebook groups. They include language like “… deeply held beliefs” etc and typically quote a state Supreme Court case supporting their position.

he filled it out and submitted it and had a 1 on 1 with the principle. He was so cocky …. I can only assume that it didn’t go well because he has pulled both of his daughters out of school ….all the private schools in our area have mask mandates ….. and I know his wife (stay at home Mom) hated the remote learning sooooo I would assume home schooling would not be an option …. (((Shrug)))) a lot of risk to his kids education just for the sole reason that he is bad at math.

I also hated it when George Washington required his citizens/volunteer military to be vaccinated to help win the revolutionary war.

This country was founded by vaccine mandates and NO FREEDOM!!

Not sure why the picture isn’t showing. It’s a high school hall way with the phrase “Never stop learning, because life never stops teaching” written across it.

Didn’t think this would come from the White House…. But BUMP because I told you this coming.

And no…I don’t agree with what happened today

I think I will hire only heterosexual people since homosexuals' have much higher rate of hiv disease and pose a higher health risk to employees and customers. This is not even a slippery slope- this is straight down the side of a mountain glazier on skis.

Yeah….those aren’t the same things. You are comparing apples and unicorns.
