OK Folks I have a very limited knowledge of the election process and in regard to "what ifs" although I could probably reason through the process.

My question is WHAT IF for example after the candidates are nominated and in the process of running have something happen to them?

Then what happens if one is elected and from the election date to the swearing in date, they become unable to serve?

Although @iceheart08 and my politics and ideology are somewhat polar on many subjects, I do believe he respects the rule of law and is probably the most informed regarding this situation.

My money is on Biden having something happen, however Trump at his age is also at a higher risk.

Sir iceheart08 would you weigh in to educate and inform me as to the consequences and results of a catastrophe if one occurred between now and January 20, 2025.

Icebeart is the most confident in his opinion, but he might be wrong.

We are in uncharted waters and either way it will end up in the courts.

Ari Emmanuel, I believe a lawyer and top Democrat donor, has this to say.

“He is not the candidate anymore. This is a legal issue now. You can no longer remove him in three swing states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. There's only one democratic congress. Michigan. They have to vote to remove him. I don't believe the Republican party in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin will do that. And, if they do, it's then Kamala Harris. This is legal, so lawyers will have to look at this. Now, there are some questions about whether the delegates can do something... The lifeblood of a campaign is money, and maybe the only way this gets solved is if the money starts drying up.”

So many different situations that we have really never dealt with and don't have solid rules/laws for.

The short answer is chaos.

This is a good source for info here:

The reality is that if the nominee isn't Biden, there are going to be lawsuits. If he is the nominee and he wins, then dies or leaves before taking office, there are going to be lawsuits. If he wins and just stays, there will be lawsuits. If trump wins, there will be lawsuits.

Would describe the situation you are worrying about as possible and a total disaster for our country. A "constitutional crisis" for sure that will continue to diminish our power on the international stage and lead to more polarization and inability to function.

As I said in the another thread. The blame here lies on democratic party insiders at the top who let this happen. Who cared more about preservation of their own power and the status quo than actually moving our country forward.

So the answer so far is it is a cluster frack with Dems and Pubs lying and lawsuits on anything that moves or breathes

USA gets nothing good out of the mess

Inflation is the biggest / fastest contributor to the rich getting richer. Just sayin

Joe Biden had the highest inflation rate in almost 50 years.

Draw your own conclusions.

100% our country suffers while the rich get richer.

Our country suffering while the rich get richer has been really the only consistent thing about our politics over the last 40 years or so anyway

Must say even all levels of Americans have benefitted from a Great America

Look at the STANDARD OF LIVING today in America versus 50 years ago and also around the globe today

We are truly a blessed country

HOWEVER, THE WINDS OF CHANGE TOWARD A LOWER STANDARD OF LIVING ARE RISING

DEMOCRACY IS IN DANGER DUE TO PARASITIC VOTER BEHAVIOR

SELF RELIANCE MUST RISE AGAIN FROM THE ASHES OF THE FIRES BURNING FOR DEPENDENCY

PRAY GOD IT HAPPENS

@iceheart08 Question for the most politically connected I am aware of on here.

I saw where you posted saying the typical political interviews have the interviewer or interviewee kind of giving each other a heads up on questions they would like to ask or be asked

I kind of suspect that and expect that

However many journalists are saying there are boundaries to that

The radio hosts the other day confessed they were schooled in what to ask by the Biden folks and then admitted it on national TV

Then the two hosts were fired

Help me out with what is expected is situations like this

Is it taboo like a kiss and tell or secrets to be kept ?

What is the standard operating procedure?

I am so dumb I expect for an interview mostly open season on questions asked ?

I am sure there may be some boundaries, but it seems so something or strange or wrong not to allow a no holds barred interview

the situation I was describing goes like this.

Reporter/producer/booker: hey communications director for PoliticianX, can we have your person on at 12pm tomorrow?
Political staffer: maybe! whats the topic, who else will be on, is it live, who is asking the questions, is it limited to a specific topic?
Reporter/producer/booker: usually will answer those questions honestly.

In most instances like this, its not important nor would we ever give the interviewer a list of questions. That is definitely not something that is done. The politicians can always get their TPs in, regardless of the questions, so that level of control is unnecessary and, for the interviewer, unethical for sure.

this is pretty clear evidence that they don't trust him to talk to people.

Thank you for explaining how you handle that

I can see the validity of your explanation as there are also outliers that are way outside the norm

I think your explanation is the norm
