Which Party?

Which Party?

  • Republican

  • Democratic Socialist

Results are only viewable after voting.
I'll probably write-in again, but could you imagine if somebody told you in 2012 that the two candidates would be Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, and that Donald Trump would be running for a second term? There's no way anybody would've predicted that, and if they had, their family would've had them committed. If Sanders gets the nomination, we'll have he most populist, cuckoo-bananas, old crank, yankee election ever.

People saying "the only person who can win is XXX," or "XXX has too many liabilities/is too extreme to win" apparently weren't paying attention in 2015 and 2016. We aren't picking candidates by who's the most reasonable anymore.

The only person that could beat Trump is Klobuchar.

All the others have too many personal or political red flags and they are glaring obvious. So obvious they won’t be able to be overcome.

The Burns budget is twice the current one due to all the free programs. If I was in my early 20s, he's my man. If you pay taxes, he's a nightmare

Can no longer hold my nose and vote. As a constitutionalist, I just write in the name of a worthy President even though they are not on the ballot. This will shock some of you, but many years ago I visited Congress and observed Ds and Rs crossing the aisle and working for the USA.

How long until this board becomes unbearable with political nonsense.

Part of the problem with what's going on now is that politics is increasingly just becoming a soap opera of personal rivalries. That's the way it's always been for some people, but that's pretty much all it can be when certain people are involved. Makes it difficult to have a reasonable or interesting discussion with almost anybody.

Way too early to call this. I highly doubt Bernie carries many Southern States. It will be interesting how this plays out. Bloomberg opening his wallet for Super Tuesday. One question will Biden or Warren have enough money to keep competing if they dont show significant improvement in SC or Nevada?

Both the Rs and Ds were mired in their squabbles before the donald, but his election threw gasoline on the fire. Prior to 2016, I was a moderate who identified as Republican, and held my nose over some of the social issues that made their way into the platform. Trump's election, at least temporarily put me in the ABT camp. Bearnie Sanders as the nominee might leave me without a camp. In the last election, we had the two worst candidates ever and one of them won.

Living in SC my vote in a national election truly doesnt matter. Its going to be hard to vote for Bernie knowing its a throw away vote.

Bernie is a good guy who has been pretty consistent in his values and how he has carried himself for a long time. For that reason I think he loses. America is no longer a Christian nation with morals and scruples so we adore those who embody sin such as Donald Trump.
JMHO

My guess is Pete at this point. Warren and Biden are done. Zero momentum. Moderates have found homes with Pete and Amy.

Sanders had a closer call in NH than last time. Maybe that's a sign that the electorate isn't insane enough to nominate a socialist. Guess we will see.

Pete is doing so poorly with minorities that he probably starts to fall off the further south he goes.

More options than last time explains a lot of that

This x3

Not to mention this poll on this particular board is idiotic. I'll be shocked if it's not 95% Trump.

sure doesn't feel like it to me most of the time on here. Seems like its much much more liberal than what I would think out of a southern school like Clemson. Maybe its just that the libs are much louder with their opinions.

It will be interesting to follow. Objectively, it’s a pretty horrible group of candidates. Amy is probably the best of the bunch when you evaluate experience and policy. Biden is senile, Sanders and Warren are socialists, Pete has no major experience. Just a terrible overall group.

It certainly doesn't seem like we're heading into a more libertarian era, but then again, who knows where thing are going anymore.

read slowly..... there are ZERO chances that anyone other than Klobuchar can beat Trump.

Klobacher chances are VERY LOW, like 5-10% to beat Trump.

The personal and political tear down of all the other candidates make them unelectable.

I have a hard time believing anybody can know stuff like this with any certainty right now.

There is no republican candidate. Poll is not valid.

Meh. While not conventional, Trump is pretty close.
  • Strong economy
  • Tax cuts
  • Reduced regulations
  • Pro business
  • Pro energy
  • Reforming entitlements (work requirements, etc.)
  • 2 new SC justices and a boat load of conservative judges in lesser courts
  • Border security
  • Pro military
  • Etc.
His budget that was released this week even aims to balance the budget - one of your biggest criticisms of him: https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-proposes-4-8-trillion-budget-with-cuts-to-safety-nets-11581356145

Of course the democrats will paint the safety net cuts as punitive to the working class, but it appears most are logical structural reforms, such as the work requirements mentioned previously. Can't imagine why anyone would oppose simply enforcing this existing policy:

Under long-standing rules, adults ages 18 to 49 who are "work eligible" and have no dependents can receive only three months of SNAP benefits during a three-year period if they do not meet the 20-hour-a-week work requirement.

...
Other than wanting to buy votes.

moderate Democrats are NOT going to vote for Sanders. He’s a very NEW YORK Jewish guy that scares enough Americans as it is. Couple that with his policies. The best thing for the Dem party is for Sanders to throw his supporters to an electable candidate.

Americans are not going to allow a 38 year old gay President. There are so many ways he doesn’t have a chance. Credit to him but ageism and his personal life takes him out.

Biden.... ageism. And he’s showing his age. He’s out now anyway.

Bloomberg..... fair enough, remains to be seen He has some things going for but also against him. Another New York Jew but moderate, successful.

Klobuchar.... moderate, good track record, woman but not condescending like Hilary. She is electable by many. I’m not saying she’s gonna win. Just that those other guys have issues where many people will not support them.

Im a fierce Independent. The whole process stinks across the board. As soon as Impeachment started, told my crazy Dem friends, congrats on putting Trump in office 4 more years.

As someone above wrote about being a Constitutionalist..... yeah. That should and needs to be the goal. Because if you continue to attack and shred that document, you quickly realize you don’t have what you think you have.

Trump for all his shortcomings is probably still best suited.
