Saw that earlier but at this point I'm hopeless that it makes a difference. A recent poll shows that 61% of Republicans still think Trump won. That's sickening.

I saw one of these conservatives on TV saying they did a deep dive on every single election lawsuit(60 something) and not one of them alleged actual fraud.

"There is absolutely no evidence of fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election on the magnitude necessary to shift the result in any state, let alone the nation as a whole. In fact, there was no fraud that changed the outcome in even a single precinct," the report says.

The report is signed by retired federal appeals court judges Thomas B. Griffith, J. Michael Luttig and Michael W. McConnell, former Solicitor General Theodore B. Olson, former US Sens. John Danforth and Gordon H. Smith, longtime Republican election lawyer Benjamin L. Ginsberg and veteran Republican congressional chief of staff David Hoppe. Several of them are longtime Trump critics.

"Even now, twenty months after the election, a period in which Trump's supporters have been energetically scouring every nook and cranny for proof that the election was stolen, they come up empty. Claims are made, trumpeted in sympathetic media, and accepted as truthful by many patriotic Americans. But on objective examination they have fallen short, every time," the report says."

It wont matter. They consider actual real physical evidence equivalent to what Rudy Guliani and my pillow guy claim but can't prove. They have no real evidence, but that doesn't stop the conspiracy nor their efforts to tell each other its real. Echo chambers on the internet, much like rivals, place white conservatives in a dumb vacuum where they get to jerk each other off to Hunter Biden porn tapes. Thats not to say there aren't dumb leftist/liberal echo chambers. There are some real bad ones out there. Algorithms fuel this type of dumbing down of the internet users.

Maybe in 10 years they will say things like: Yah that guy was an idiot, naw i didn't really believe that stuff I just hated Biden, Hillary etc. Its like the war in Iraq, Republicans were frothing at the mouth with NO evidence besides what Powell presented, to go to war. It was ludicrous and if you called them out on it, they got pissed and couldn't handle it. People are fragile.
NOW, Trump Republicans are like: Yah that war in Iraq was dumb! Yet my judgement is called into question because 'im a lib'.

I dated ben Ginsburg's daughter in high school. Just saying.

This is what the apologists we find in this forum don’t understand. They claim hyperbole when people talk about fascism, etc.

Once you accept that reality and facts are no longer relevant, there is NO boundary to how far people can go. There is no limit, none. They can keep inventing an alternate reality and finding new fake reasons to be outraged, new “villains”, and somehow they are always the victims and heros of their own narrative. There is no way to falsify their story because they have embraced detachment from reality, so they can always be right. There can be no common ground when reality is rejected…. This is why justice is so important because it is a system that looks for facts and evidence. And why Trump tried to weaponize the justice department to eliminate the last thing standing between himself and his ambitions.

I have a hard time believing that %. I’m surrounded by a fair amount of republicans and it would be a huge minority that think Trump won and there was widespread cheating that reversed the election results. Like almost nobody - single digit % at best.

I'm just going to go out on a limb that college educated, upwardly mobile Republicans like you are less likely to to believe Trump actually won, but I also believe you are in the minority, the way the R base is currently constituted.

no difference....
i don't think that list of experts is as impressive as the 51 former security officials that said that Hunter's laptop was a russian hoax. Boy, that held up well. If the truth on that was known at the time would the election have gone differently?

No. Every vote in that election was cast for Trump: either for or against him. It was a referendum on his presidency. Period. Joe Biden just happened to be the other guy.

No one outside of right wing media - and those that consume it heavily - gives two sh!ts about Hunter Biden, then or now.

Good find. The average of those five polls shows that only 26% of Republicans believe Biden legitimately won. That's pretty frightening.
Absolutely insane. These are our friends and neighbors. And they are willing to ignore facts and reality because it is inconvenient. What other areas of their lives are they willing to ignore reality? Where is the boundary? Where do they feel like people should be reasonable? How can you trust someone like that?

I constantly have to remind myself that half the country is of below average intelligence. And much of the BS coming from politicians is meant for their ears. It’s half the electorate and the more easily influenced portion. So yes, my group of college educated, successful, married 37-42 year olds is probably going to skew a bit different than the general public. I still struggle to see how a significant majority of republicans fall into that bucket though.

Im not saying it would have changed the outcome but there is this...

Don't forget twitter literally banned NYP for posting that story on HB too...

I don't trust them and they lose all credibility with me if they espouse that belief. You're absolutely correct that they create their own alternate reality which insulates them from stupid little things - like facts.

I only read your first article, but I don't buy that. I generally watch the Today show while getting ready, and literally every one of those stories was covered. It does not get more mainstream than that.

I would also like to know how this right wing source positioned these things in their "poll". I imagine it was like the push polling that W did to beat McCain.

If you are talking about leading up to the 2020 election you saw that, then fair, I have no way of knowing as I don't watch that show (or really anything in the morning). I do know that none of the primetime hosts of CNN or NBC certainly were not covering it. However I do have a hard time believing it would change THAT many voters, plus then you'd have to look at how it would impact different states and electoral votes and a whole bunch of other shenanigans to even make a case that it would change things.

Regardless, anyone can look at a hypothetical but it doesn't make a difference, the election is over and Biden was elected. I really wish the right (really everyone) would look forward rather than backwards on the issue of elections

Who knows but wouldn't that be something if the voters turned away from Biden over the implication of corruption to choose the other candidate who was wholly corrupt. Sounds odd but it happened to Hillary when they re-opened the email investigation right before the 2016 election.

We all struggle to see it but poll after poll show that it's true. Maybe ALL the polls are wrong but I doubt it. That's why people like you need to take the lead and get in front of the narrative. I know you don't have availability to invest a lot of time on the board but I do believe your time is well spent here, since you're one of the few rational repubs on TI.

Two wrongs don’t make one right. And explain something to me. Until the woke left lobbied the medical field, gender dysphoria was considered a mental illness until 2019. It is still considered a medical condition. So, if living in a dreamworld where your biological facts don’t matter is a mental illness, what kind of mental illness do trump supporters have? How mentally ill do you have to be to believe that 8 million votes were fake? That a pedophile ring is being run from a pizza parlor? That Qanon conspiracy theories are true? That Jan 6 was a “regular tourist visit”?
Do you understand how unsettling it is for people like me who aren’t batshit crazy to see both sides live in worlds with alternate facts???

25 years ago I would have never imagined that my fellow republicans would act like mentally ill patients, making shit up all the time and defending the indefensible. History will not be kind to them.

If you look at the republican debates happening all over the country, it is very obvious. You have the crazies that are running on a trumpy platform centered around election fraud. Then you have the moderates. But the funny thing is the moderates refuse to say the elevation wasn’t stolen on camera.

Sniffles, you need a new game. These two things are completely unrelated so if you think you enlightened the board by popping in for the 1567th time to screech "OH the Irony!😱 you failed.
