Willy B to require facemasks

Yep. Why do you care?

Masks are so effective, liberal Hollywood didn't wear a single one at the Emmys.

Oh......can cases across the nation and in SC continue their downward tread. Hospitalization rate in SC dropped by a few hundred beds.
I had covid bad in december and i got vaccinated in march. I seldom wear a mask, unless i am in tight quarters with alot of other people, and only then because i dont know who may be unvaccinated. I mean, why take the chance. As far as all the liberal hollywoods not wearing masks at the emmys, i bet their vaccination rates are pretty high. I dont have a problem with it . But if they had all worn masks, then the right would be mask shaming them on social media. As it is, it just makes for a good headline on Fox news on their daily left wing hyprocrisy story. I am glad for you , and especially your wife and kids, that you are vaxxed. We just lost a good man in charleston yesterday. Forty nine years old, married, good guy, a solid trump man, and a serious anti vaxxer. Very healthy , no typical comorbidities. But the Delta got him. Left behind a wife and kids, including a teenage son, who is good friends with my good buddy's fifteen year old. Very sad and didnt have to be. Our country needs to get vaccinated. Hope the hospitilzation rate continues to decline. There were no beds to give for awhile. Maybe they will fill back up now that some are open, maybe they wont. God bless you , friend.

The vax rate of the of the Hollywood "sophisticated" partiers (as dems refer to them) doesn't matter. There is a ordinance in LA to wear masks indoor and outdoors. West Hollywood issues a $300 fine to violators. How many were fined at the Emmy's?

There are plenty of beds and always have been. Just look at the data. Hospitals are no where near capacity and that's without restrictive measures like reducing elective procedures. The "overflowing hospitals" myth is garbage. In SC there are 2000 open beds today. About 25% beds are filled with COVID patients. The vast majority with people over 50.

A recent study, found cloth mask have ZERO impact on the transmission of COVID. Surgical masks have some, but very little, impact on COVID transmission.

There is an exception to the ordinance for theater productions, musical productions, etc. in LA, I am sure Fox News conveniently left that out. I wouldnt raise too much hell about it. The last thing we want is for someone to shut down Death Valley. I am glad that i am vaccinated. I wish the unvax would wise up, but i am done with arguing with people about it. Not everyone is as smart as me and you. Some just lack all common sense.

Sorry. No such exemption exists.

In Los Angeles County, everyone 2 years of age and older must* wear a mask in all indoor public settings, venues, gatherings, public and private businesses and at outdoor Mega Events, regardless of their vaccination status. They must also continue to wear a mask on all public transit and transit hubs, at all health care settings, correctional facilities, shelters and cooling centers, and schools and day care facilities.

Note that in the workplace, workers must follow the most protective mask requirements as stated by Cal/OSHA and the County Health Officer Order. Certain employees may be exempt from wearing a mask in specific situations provided alternative safety measures are in place. See the Health Officer Order and Best Practices for Businesses webpage for details of workplace requirements.

Recommendations
EVERYONE*, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask:
  • In all indoor public settings, venues, gatherings, and public and private businesses in Los Angeles County
  • On planes, trains, buses, ferries, taxis and ride-shares, and all other forms of public transport
  • In transportation hubs like airports, bus terminals, train stations, marinas, seaports or other ports, subway stations, or any other area that provides transportation
  • In healthcare settings (including long-term care facilities)
  • In state and local correctional facilities and detention centers
  • Shelters and cooling centers
  • Indoors at any youth-serving facility (such as K-12 schools, childcare, day camps, etc.)
  • At outdoor Mega-Events (events with over 10,000 attendees like concerts, sports games and parades)
  • In any other outdoor location where it is the policy of the business or venue
  • It is strongly recommended that you wear a mask at private indoor social gatherings with people outside your household, unless everyone at the gathering is fully vaccinated.
  • It is strongly recommended that you wear a mask at crowded outdoor events (that are smaller than Mega Events). In particular, wear a mask while in line to enter, exit, use the bathroom, or buy food or drinks.
  • It is strongly recommended that children wear a mask on playgrounds and in other outdoor spaces where they gather if distancing is not possible or practical.
  • If you are not fully vaccinated, it is strongly recommended that you wear a mask in crowded outdoor settings.
  • If you are in a setting where you are in sustained close contact with other people who may not be fully vaccinated, consider wearing a higher level of protection, such as wearing two masks (double masking) or an N95 respirator. This is especially important if you are not fully vaccinated and are in an indoor or crowded outdoor setting.

Note: You are allowed to take off your mask while you are:
  • Actively eating or drinking as long as you are sitting or standing in a specific place such as a table, counter, or ticketed seat. This means that you can briefly remove your mask when you are actually eating or drinking but you must put it back on immediately afterwards. You must also wear a mask when you are waiting to be served, between courses or drinks, and while seated after finishing your food or drink.
  • Alone in a separate room or office.
  • Showering or swimming.
  • Performing or receiving personal hygiene or personal care services (like a facial or shave) that cannot be done without removing your mask.

*There are some people who should not wear a mask, such as children younger than 2, people with certain medical conditions or disabilities, and people instructed by their medical provider not to wear a mask. Children ages 2 to 8 should wear a mask only when under adult supervision. See Who should not wear a mask and Special considerations for persons with communication difficulties or certain disabilities.

Or some realize that getting a vaccine for a sickness that as a very low mortality rate for people under 50 is just not necessary.

Put on a mask

Put a mirror in front of your face

Exhale

And then tell me masks work.

BTW SCIENCE says to even have a slight odds of transmission you have to be within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes. SCIENCE also says the most common masks only block about 1 in 4 particles.

No one's gotten COVID walking through Home Depot or Publix.

Oh.....it's so important to wear masks, our leadership NEVER takes theirs off or violates their own mandates.

God gave you a brain. Try thinking for yourself instead on blindly following others.
i guess it just must be a coincidence that covid cases drop in every city that institutes a mask mandate - especially following new implementations of mask mandates. sure correlation ╘ causation, but it's funny that every city that implements mask mandates always ends up seeing a drop in cases.

also, ****ing lol at the "JUST PUT A MASK ON AND THEN BREATHE THROUGH IT AND YOU'LL SEE PARTICLES BREAKING THROUGH!" no shit, it doesn't block everything from getting through, but it does prevent SOME from getting through.

did you even read the article you posted? it talks at length about how mask use decreases the spread of COVID, and doesn't rly support anything you've said itt
"“Unfortunately, much of the conversation around masking in the United States is not evidence-based,” Luby said. “Our study provides strong evidence that mask wearing can interrupt the transmission of SARS-CoV-2. It also suggests that filtration efficiency is important. This includes the fit of the mask as well as the materials from which it is made. A cloth mask is certainly better than nothing. But now might be a good time to consider upgrading to a surgical mask.”"

And increases risk of bacterial infection as well as diminishes O2 levels within seconds.

There are so many peer reviewed studies on efficacy of masks I don’t know why even argue about this anymore.

Masks are stupid, should be worn by uglies at all times regardless of Covid so we don’t have to hurt our eyes. Honestly that’s the best thing about them.

No it doesn't. The recent Bangladesh study, which all the SCIENCE world is looking at now, shows CLOTH MASK HAVE NO EFFECT ON PREVENTING COVID TRANSMISSION. Surgical masks had a marginal improvement on preventing COVID transmission. It was just barely statistically significant. Dude...COVID transmits through the water particles in your breath. But hey, deny science if you like.

You know why cities with mask mandates see a drop? Because people stop going there! They aren't going to put up with that BS.

If three weeks of full football stadiums of unmasked people, with no increase in COVID cases, nationwide doesn't convince you, I can't help you. Go ahead and keep your head in the sand.

No....it talks about surgical masks having an impact. Cloth masks had zero impact versus the control group.

Much of the general population isn't wearing surgical masks.

i mean i pulled that quote directly from the article you provided. it's pretty clear you don't understand the Stanford study that you linked as it thoroughly states that masks help prevent covid transmission. here are some more:

“It’s notable that even though fewer than 50% of the people in the intervention villages wore masks in public places, we still saw a significant risk reduction in symptomatic COVID-19 in these communities, particularly in elderly, more vulnerable people.”

"The researchers found that among the more than 350,000 people studied, the rate of people who reported symptoms of COVID-19, consented to blood collection and tested positive for the virus was 0.76% in the control villages and 0.68% in the intervention villages, showing an overall reduction in risk for symptomatic, confirmed infection of 9.3% in the intervention villages regardless of mask type."

"As a group, those ages 50 to 60 were 23% less likely to develop COVID-19 if they wore a surgical mask, and those over 60 were 35% less likely if they did."

"“This is statistically significant and, we believe, probably a low estimate of the effectiveness of surgical masks in community settings,” Styczynski said. The fact that the study was conducted at a time when the rate of transmission of COVID-19 in Bangladesh was relatively low, that a minority of symptomatic people consented to blood collection to confirm their disease status, and that fewer than half of the people in the intervention villages used facial coverings means the true impact of near-universal masking could be much more significant — particularly in areas with more indoor gatherings and events, she noted."

but please tell me more about how this study proves that masks are useless

Was the study actually conducted in Bangladesh, as in The Concert For Bangladesh?

It's okay. I get that reading and statistics may not be your strength. First, the link wasn't the study. It was a synopsis of the study by Stanford. Sorry I didn't link the actual study.

"There were significantly fewer COVID-19 cases in villages with surgical masks compared with the control villages. (Although there were also fewer COVID-19 cases in villages with cloth masks as compared to control villages, the difference was not statistically significant.)"

Let me explain what that means. You see when you conduct an experiment, your results could support your hypothesis or they could just be by chance. You look at the statistical significance of the data. In this case, they did it at the 96% level. If the data is significant, it means that the is a 96% level of confidence that data is a result of the change, not that you just by some happenstance that happens to prove your hypothesis.

What this experience showed was two things:
1) As you correctly point out, SURGICAL masks did have a statistically significant impact on COVID transmission rates. It was not a large reduction, but it was significant.

2) Even though there was a small reduction in COVID cases in the cloth masked villages, the amount was so small IT CAN NOT BE ATTRIBUTED TO WEARING MASKS.

Hint: The vast majority of people in the US who wear masks, ARE WEARING CLOTH MASKS. While SURGICAL masks had an impact, that's not what people are wearing.

Saying "All planes are really fast" may be true if you are referring to a jet fighter. It's hardly true for a Cessna 152.

But hey....this is just science.
