I'd like to announce that I'm officially starting the campaign for writing in Boaty McBoatface in the presidential election. In all seriousness, though, I'd like to hear from those who plan on writing in a candidate as to who they have in mind.

Write ins are a wasted vote. I'm voting 3rd party, Gary Johnson to be specific. I am actually a Libertarian so he is who I should be voting for anyway.

I live in South Carolina, which is not a swing state. So my vote for Trump - who is slightly less terrifying to me than Clinton - wouldn't matter. If a 3rd party gets enough percent of the votes, that party has much better representation in the following election. And we need a strong 3rd party now more than ever. Both major parties have drifted further and further to the extremes and we need someone to represent the middle - which most Americans are anyway.

I was mainly saying "write-in" just cause I wanted to drop the Boaty McBoatface joke, but yeah I mainly just want to not vote for Trump or Hillary yet still fulfill my civic duty. My views also most closely align with Libertarian, so I'll give Johnson a look-see.

The last couple of elections, i have actually voted Constitution Party, not Libertarian.
Most on here would say that it's been a wasted vote, but my conscious is clean and i sleep well at night.
Jesus never asked me to vote for a party, but to follow Him, and the Constitution party let's me do that.

I thought so. I was just stating my belief about write ins.

Johnson is solid. I think you'll like him.

Any vote that isn't for the mainstream candidate is a waste vote IMHO. The only thing in my mind that separates those people from those who don't vote is that you can complain because you actually voted

Nope, not even close. That's only true if you're in a swing state.

Unless you are a lib and are writing in someone in lieu of Hillary, a write in is the same as voting for her. You got two choices that have a legitimate chance of getting elected. You can take a chance on Trump or you can be prepared for another 8 years of a liberal Obama type administration and a supreme court that will literally destroy our constitution and end up being a dictatorship.

Honestly if you are writing in a candidate why even waste your time?

Well, in the end, they didnt end up going with the will of the people on that one, so it was a wasted effort. But great name for the boat.

Probably going

I hear you brother, will probably vote Libertarian myself. Personally, I'm a bit less terrified of Clinton than Trump, but it's mostly a matter of semantics. It's like getting locked up in a jail cell with a 6-5' 300 pound Black Panther or a 6-5 300 psychopath --- neither case is going to turn out well. I'm in a deep red state (Idaho), so a vote for Hillary is wasted anyway. Agreed on the 3rd party needed statement.

I am a proud Clinton supporter. And don't worry, you'll have heard plenty by Nov. 8th.

I really don't think there's a huge difference between Trump and Hillary. I would bet that my life and your life will be the same in 2020 after 4 years of either.

The election stuff is just a game that both sides want to win. The Supreme Court justice appointment is the only thing that COULD impact out lives, but still unlikely.

but why?what soecifically are you conting on her doing

all i see is her continuuing the transfer of our wealth to the elite

i dont particularly think thats good for the country

nut what does she stand for beside the typical catch phrases ive heard for decades from both sides

t me that means you are for-

-expanding the size of govt of our socia programs

-continued bogged down in the middle east

-conitnued rise of cost of healthcare

-continued loss of manufacturing and mining jobs

-continuuing the rise of cost of helping illegals and refugees

-raising more taxes on the middle class

-continuuing dviding the country by race, gender, and wealrh

what good is she?

name one thing she done good as-

first lady?

senator of new york? heck she didnt even live there, talk about croniiism ,

what about secretary?

she aint done shyt, please enlighten?

her greatest victory was gettng libtards riled up and they are worthless to capitalism

you are probably right about that

but at least trump will try to ruffle some feathers

best chance we got before either

a civil war

or

end of capitalism

and if ending capitalism is the goal- then say goodbye to why america has transformed the world so rapidly

we will drop into has ben category and become a boring lazy country like europe

not a bad thing

who needs to advance civilization as fast as we have

gps, hand held cell phones, bluetooth, safe spaces

all that comes from capitalism, not communism with socialistic principles

My vote would be for peaceful secession.
Let the lib socialists in the northeast and left coasts have their maasive government, foreign intervention, declining paper money, and godless hedonist society.

We count maintain limited government, sound money, be free of foreign entanglements, and honor Daddy God.
