WTH did you liberals do?

This will likely fall on deaf ears, but highly recommend the book Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson.

Personally love this move, but know that most that post here will disagree with me.

I disaggree. Congress passes laws. A blanket pardon is thumbing the nose at the will of the people.

Is that not true about every pardon?

It’s also not a pardon in this case.
Yes technically but a blanket commutation is different. No way that all these monsters were unfairly sentenced or are somehow now the next best thing to Christ on earth ad deserving of mercy. Yes I misspoke commutation of the death sentence. Again, why do you think this is a good thing?

It's not that they were unfairly sentenced, it's that Biden has a fundamental aversion to capital punishment. This is not to say he's right or wrong, but that's his stance plus he was pressured by many including victims families, former correctional leaders and criminal justice reform advocates.

I'm asking bc I legit do not know, but are you saying the families of the victims in these crimes wanted the killers to not suffer the death penalty or do you mean the families of the people on death row?

Life in prison is cheaper for the government for one thing. I also think statistically over the years harsher sentences like death have been given to people of color. Last, I just the think the chance of unjustly killing one person isn’t worth it (not saying let them out on the street.

I will once again highly recommend Just Mercy which is a great narrative and shares a lot of my concerns about it.

I read where some of the families of the victims asked for clemency.

His personal belief on capital punishment is neither intrinsically right or wrong, BUT if it's simply "i don't like the death penalty" then it's 100% wrong. We the people support a federal death penalty and to have an executive simply nullify that on a whim is wrong in my opinion. The power to pardon /commute was given as a last resort way for the executive redress wrongs that somehow got through all the checks and balances within the federal justice system Has that power been mis-used to help friends etc sure. Biden just did it to help his son. But, this isdifferent level stuff in my opinion.

I'm not arguing with you, just explaining Joe's point of view. Some presidents do a lot of things that are wrong - criminal even and still get away with it.

Sure, and some of them didn’t.

One of the rats he commuted the death penalty for executed two bank tellers in Conway. Where was mercy that day? You don’t think they were pleading for their lives?

The president shouldn’t have the ability to pardon anyone IMO, and Trump abused it as well. Then Biden turns around and pulls the same shit.

It’s utterly bizarre to have the view that the death penalty should be retained for terrorism and hate-based mass murder but insist that it’s unfair to apply to a scumbag like this guy.

I wasn't arguing that it was fair or unfair, right or wrong - just explaining why he did it. I think both sides of the argument have merit.

Would like to see how many family members of the victims wanted this. I highly doubt it's more than a handful. Biden/Obama is the worst president in our history and it's not even close. Yes, I grouped them together for good reason. So looking forward to America becoming great again. Enjoy the next 4 years @dpic73, @yoshi121374, and the rest of your knucklehead buddies.

No one cares about your nonsensical, dimwitted opinions - now back in your hole.

Also, you're in a cult.
