Long story short - I've been with Allstate for probably 26 years, my agent is a friend from my hometown. Anyway - my homeowners almost doubled this past year, had no warning and only found out because it was a bigger payment from my escrow account than planned. He had no idea why initially, but they're saying its because of my distance from a fire hydrant - although my distance to it and the closest fire station hasn't changed since we built in 2019. I have another friend that is a State Farm agent in the town we live in now - he quoted all my policy's for me with the exact same coverages (still waiting on one policy) and I'm close to a $6000 yearly savings by switching. Is there really that big of cost difference out there? I always just assumed it would be fairly close and now I'm questioning on these premiums over the years. I'm a pretty loyal person, but this is too much to overlook. Anyone made a similar switch lately?
