Let us just admit NIL combined with the portal is a disaster for CFB and the game

First off I am sick of calling it NIL when it is pay for play. No one is buying a Travis Hunter jersey or hoping to get that autograph from #6 receiver recruit from LaGrange Georgia.

Secondly the support staff needed for just roster management/recruiting/keeping guys happy is going to make the NFL look like a Vaudeville talent agency.

Each power five school is going to have to enlist full time entourage's to walk around making their star player's happy and safeguarding the from improper contact from other school's boosters.

If you are a group of five school or very good division 1-AA program, what is even the point of developing your kids if you are just going to lose them to the school with more money anyway.

The zero sum nature of this will kill off the fans of the schools that aren't getting it done and eventually the budgets of the athletic departments will scale back to reflect the nature of that non-support.

The sentimentality of supporting your school, players pride in said school, and even the alumni that will support the NIL collectives will eventually turn bitter as results won't follow every investment.

I also just don't see the transfer portal working out for that many players and schools. It will lead to worse football, its inevitable. the building block concepts of schemes, patterns, tendencies and techniques are just not going to hit home with guys that are Pirates for lack of a better word. Culture for your school? Not if you are going full tilt portal. Brotherhood is earned not bought.

Lastly the NFL is going to eventually put support behind a real minor league football product that will actually develop players without a need for the pretense of going to college.

Also the lack of interest in recruiting actual high school football players by programs and developing them will turn some kids that could be superstars attention to other sports.
