Brad just visited with the media for a bit. A few of the more interesting takeaways:

-- They're really trying to get Chase Hunter to elevate his leadership. Sent him to a leadership camp this summer.

"Chase is still quieter than I’d like. Probably just more just his personality."

The clear leader of this team is PJ Hall, followed by Hunter and Joe Girard. Brownell said Girard will start to become more outspoken the more time he spends here.

Said Hunter Tyson left a big void in this area.

"One thing we will miss with Tyson is he wasn’t afraid of confrontation. He was very aggressive. He had a dominant personality. He’d go after you if he didn’t think you were prepared or you hadn’t done your part. Every once in a while you have to step on toes. That’s more difficult because there aren’t as many young people who are wired that way now."

-- Brownell reiterated what we reported yesterday on the injury front:

** Josh Beadle is out a few weeks after a car accident. Broke his nose and suffered a concussion. Lucky it wasn't worse. Surgery next week.

** Jack Clark hasn't practiced at all and they're hoping he'll progress moving forward after undergoing a second hernia surgery over the summer.

** Alex Hemenway doing much better with his foot pain. Close to 90 percent.

-- Chauncey Wiggins and Asa Thomas have gotten the most work at Clark's position.

"We're hopeful to get Jack back. With his experience, his size and his physicality he brings another level of experience to our team. He has a chance to have a good year if he can get with the team."

-- Brownell thinks this team can go 10-11 deep. Loves what he's seen from the sophomores so far.

-- Hall is moving so well now that it allows for a lot more diversity in pick-and-roll defensive coverages.

"We got kind of stuck a little bit the last couple of years and it forced our hand on some of the pick-and-roll coverages," Brownell said.

-- On Thomas: "Still adjusting to the speed and physicality of it all. But he knows how to play. He’ll surprise you with a cut or a move or a pass that’s really good. Plays with a quiet confidence that you like. It’s Hunter Tyson-esque."

-- Wiggins has added 10-12 pounds and is playing much more physical, Brownell said.
