My son’s truck was broken into in Houston today. He was running in a park and left his wallet in the console of his truck. Tough lesson to learn.

The thief went to Best Buy and charged against all his cards. What I really found odd was that on his debit card they charged the exact amount that was in his account. I know that the credit cards declined the second transaction on each one.

It seems to me like the thief had to have inside help at Best Buy to let them keep trying different cards without asking for ID on large purchases with every second charge being declined. Any thoughts on this? Maybe I expect too much from retail.

It doesn’t sound like the police are going to do much, though I would think Best Buy would have video of the transactions.

The good news is that all of his cards were immediately replaced digitally so he can at least use Apple Pay until the replacements come.
