Question re: game planning

One of my biggest frustrations with our staff this year is both game-planning and game-management. For this weekend, I have zero confidence that our coaches will come up with anything unique or distinctive to attack SMU.

In fact, I can't think of many times this year where I have seen our team come out and clearly demonstrate a unique plan tailored towards a specific opponent. I don't go back and watch film like many do, so I am curious if anyone else has seen this?

It seems like we are used to having more talent than most teams and we simply "do what we do". Problem is, we don't have near as much talent and we don't look like a well coached team in any fashion.

Edit: I do recall the game (maybe VT?) in which we added the 3rd LB to match personnel. That is the only time I remember noticing anything specific to attacking our opponent.

*** Projected BOX SCORE *** CLEMSON vs SMU ***

WE'RE STILL ALIVE BABY!!

The projected box score thinks we have a decent chance of beating SMU - that's the good news! The bad news? It doesn't find us as being super competitive with any expected playoff teams (except maybe Georgia).

But one game at a time!

This is of course a neutral field projection. Didn't this open with Clemson as a 2 point favorite? Now Vegas things we lose by about a field goal - the projection thinks 5 points. Not that it's the end-all but the computer has us outperforming SMU in yardage. These teams are very evenly matched. We may have an edge with our passing attack as that's been the one place SMU has appeared weakest on defense (or is it because teams pass more because they are playing from behind?)

SMU counts on the BIG play for their scoring. They have some speed and a dangerous QB. Our offense of late has dipped, we need to return to mid-season form on that side of the ball and make some big plays of our own.

I really don't want SMU to win the ACC in year one - we need to give them an official welcome - doesn't that seem to be the result the universe wants?

I actually really like our matchup here as an eternal optimist. Screw vegas and the projection - GO TIGERS!
