Don’t care which side you are on, going to a politician’s home with a hammer in the hopes of hurting them (or worse) isn’t a healthy political climate. Whoever eggs on the crazies on both sides should be held responsible as well.

Totally agree. Not acceptable

Is it a surprise though?

Unless I've missed something I don't believe it's been determined that this was a political attack. Why is it we always assume that? How about we wait for the facts and then we'll know more? It is an outlandish situation and I'm praying for him. I can't understand how anyone would decide to beat another human with a hammer.

I totally agree with you. My post may turn out to have been premature in the end. Having said that, I didn’t post any speculation when the assault was originally disclosed. It’s only when they announced the attacker asked “where is Nancy?” armed with a hammer that I brought this up.

It’s possible that it’s a neighborhood dispute. But how coincidental is it that one of the people most demonized by MAGAs (remember Jan 6 and threats against her?), during heightened tensions leading up to the elections, when the Boeberts and MTGs of the world are stirring up the crazies with calls for vengeance and retribution ( she said yesterday she wants companies that stopped donating to the GOP after Jan 6 to be investigated), somehow gets their house broken into by someone looking for her and ready to hit her with a hammer. Sure, it could be a non political attack, but not sure the odds are in favor of that. We’ll see though.

Again, not trying to pick sides, there’s crazies on both sides, like the asshole they shot several Republicans at a baseball game.

But, if the info in that tweet is accurate, it definitely looks like this is a natural extension of the conspiracy mindset and victimhood complex that MAGA encourages.

I totally agree that no matter the side it's wrong and no doubt the baseball shooter was filled with hate, but we've never seen anything like the bloodsport that Trumpism has wrought.

I hope some of you can link your post from when the man shot the Republicans at the Congressional baseball game. Or when all the many cases of abuse of people who support other politicians have occurred.

The point being is that your desire to blame this all on one side is utterly ridiculous and completely feeds the continued escalation of the horrible acts that we are seeing right now on both sides. That you don't understand that the toxicity flows from both sides into the middle and we are all forced to put up with the ridiculousness from all angles is alarming. But go ahead and keep furthering your narratives if that's what you desire. But understand that you are a tremendous part of the toxicity that we see so therefore you are disqualified from being outraged by it.

For years you have demonized maga people as this horrible awful form of life and now you're surprised when they resort to these kinds of tactics? That is absolutely absurd. How about we start treating each other with respect and acknowledge our differences and show that we care about the opinions of others? That might make a lot more progress.

sounds an awful lot like you're blaming dems for MAGA folks being completely unhinged and listening to their news outlets/representatives who say inflammatory things.

i don't disagree that rhetoric needs to improve and casting blame doesn't really help anyone, but i mean it's pretty obvious that some of the spicy takes some elected officials, and other talking heads, have espoused helped foster this kind of reaction

Agreed, The crazies pollute both parties. Let's not forget Chuck Schumer threatening violence against Supreme Court Justices inciting a leftist lunatic to arrive armed with a gun at Brett Kavanaugh's home.

I am blaming Democrats and Republicans and the Media and all of us. We are ALL to blame. In some way I have at times given into my anger and fostered this kind of climate with things I say or write. Pretty much all of us have. So it's on all of us. If we on the right call people on the left evil and Satanic, etc. what do we expect to get in return? ANYTIME we dehumanize people we are just furthering our own ruin.

Sounds like the guy has been all over the map over the years. But it does appear as though he's gone off the lunatic right lately after being on the lunatic left with his Castro love affair. The one consistent thing is he's been nuts for a long time.

You can blame both sides all you want but we've never had an ex-President who is more cult leader than politician. We've also never had such a large number of people who will buy into every single lie and conspiracy theory the cult leader promotes. When you have 70% of Republicans believing that the election was stolen, that's a recipe for disaster. We may have a few fringe crazies on our side as well but the MAGA movement may just be the most dangerous crusade this country has ever seen and I won't stand idly by and allow them to spew their hatred and conspiracies without a challenge. If that makes me part of the problem, then so be it. They are too dangerous to ignore, and I won't. You would be better served if you went after the poison in your own house.

It's not hard to understand what your problem is. You should spend less of your life on Twitter and more in the real world. You have a very warped view of things that just isn't going to comport with reality no matter how hard you try. You should be careful because it's folks who live in that bubble like you are that end up beating up an old man with a hammer because you lose sight of people and just see evil all around you that needs to be exterminated.

You are a ridiculous partisan wearing "I'm rational" drag. 90% of the posts on this board are right-wing conspiracies, fake charges demonizing Democrats in multiple ways and flat out lies. You don't say a fvcking word to those posters no matter how vile they get. But let one of the handful of non-MAGAs on the board clap back at them and you are OUTRAGED! What a joke you are.

Awww. You sure escalated that quickly. Guess when it hits close to home it strikes a nerve, huh? I never post conspiracies. Please point to one of them. May be a little tough for you though. I am not on Twitter and I use actual facts. :) I'll hang up and listen.

Have a wonderful weekend. I love you too! :)

Why did you get paranoid and assume I was talking about your posts? You must know you're part of the problem, huh?

Are you going to buy a costume this year or are you just going as a scarecrow?

I get everyone trying to parse their comments and trying to be "fair" when talking about crazies from both sides. But damn it, it's about a 10:1 ratio toward one side. Be honest.

I had someone tell me once It's ok to hate something that you disagree with, but understand why you do, and be able to explain It rationally. In other words, learn how to hate correctly.....

You don't post conspiracies, and we are generally able to have a rational and while heated, generally civil debate. His point is true. On this board, the vast majority of crap is from the right and I have never seen you stand up and call them out for that garbage. I've never seen you call out @TigerGrowls or @whatever joebidensniffskids calls himself this week.

Be part of the solution for the Republicans.

Because if you lump together 90% of the posts, that would include me. Only about 65-70% of what goes up here fits in that category.

My mother bless her heart will be 85 next month. She's all into social media, and watches Fox and OAN. She always says she hates Nancy. I asked her once to tell me one bill, law, anything that Pelosi is responsible for, that upsets her. She said she couldn't, she just hears what they say on OAN, and Fox. Finally, she said she just didn't like the way Nancy Pelosi looks. That was it. She hates the woman because she looks like someone she should hate, and those networks reinforce that. Unfortunately that's the world now.

Agreed. And I would point out to those on the right, before they try some whataboutism that every single voted on the left who doesn't like Trump can tell you exactly why. Ask them why they hate Kamala Harris. Ask them for some specifics. Now read between the lines when they can't, but they will call her something racist.

Fascinating to me that for people who say don't deal in broad and uninformed strokes with people it sure does happen a lot in your posts. There's such a presumption of racial animus and that's just not usually the case. Such condescension pointed in almost always one direction. Perhaps you should smell what you're shoveling?

I don't know why you're so obsessed with flogging our country and the people who live here. But I will tell you that your desire for racism far out strips the supply and perhaps we should work on further limiting what little is left rather than trying to invent more to satisfy our Fantasyland.

I love America. I just recognize that there are issues and we can be better

Well my friendly suggestion as you know that I like you is that perhaps we focus on real issues rather than using circumstantial events to create issues where there are none. We certainly don't need to invent problems in this time.

interesting timing. This happened the same day that you guys on the far right have been oozing your own noodles over the fact that Musk is going to reinstate “free speech” on twitter. So we will get more conspiracy theories based on nothing factual, and that will lead to more MTG’ type candidates and more people being attacked in their homes or pizza parlor businesses.

Did you forget the summer of riots encouraged by the left?

I mean, I agree with your position that the Trump situation has turned toxic and has to own some of the violence it has spawned...but it pales in comparison to a summer of riot, murder, countless ruined lives and otherwise orgy of gratuitous violence that was incited and cheered on by the extreme left.

Although I'm more left than most on this board... I thought the exact same thing. There's virtually no chance that this isn't political. Possible, sure, but very unlikely.

I thought about the above and the Supreme Court Justice thing recently. Both sides of the aisle have extremist at the edge of their party that are really bad folks.

Ridiculous whataboutism. Those riots weren't encouraged by the left, they were encouraged by the death of black men at the hands of cops. Something that ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
The Trump cult and the violence it has spawned are encouraged by things that DIDN'T HAPPEN.

To end the 2020 riots, all that had to happen was for cops to stop illegally killing black men.
There's nothing that can be done to stop the cult of Trump because nothing at all has to happen for his followers to threaten and attack those that he defames and bullies. Anything he imagines becomes a rallying cry for those troglodytes.

The statute of limitations has run out on your stupid analogy. Time to face reality and take responsibility for the people you put into office that have created this climate.

Willence and I disagree on Trump but he has never suggested what I should or should not post anything in particular. Willence is one of the smarter guys on this board imo related to knowledge of issues and what's right and wrong.

The person who committed the attack should be held responsible only with no guilt by association.

Mr. Pelosi, an 82 year old man, took a hammer to the head from a man half his age and lived to tell about it. That’s one tough dude.

You're a fraud.
I call pedos pedos and I call out those like yourself that try to defend them. You guys always slander anybody that doesnt go along with your point of view. You call people nazi's, racist, and a bunch of other names almost daily. I dont even think you know what a nazi is and what they stood for. So if your going to dish it out you better be ready to get it back in spades. You dont call out your side also when they do these things. Instead you cry whataboutism when its pointed out. As far as Biden goes I stand by calling him Pedohitler. His own kids call him a pedo and he acts like Hitler and believes in most things Hitler did. But again I dont think you know what a nazi is. Also how many things do you guys call pubs? But thats ok in your mind because you think they deserve it right? You guys started us down this path. How many attacks do you think people will endure before they say enough is enough and clap back? Some of them are and your crying about it. But you condoned the attacks against the right even laughed, remember Sen. Paul being attacked. You sick fuks cheered that on. But now your getting worried. You should think about that before your side acts out again and it escalates. Lets try to stop this now. Its about to get out of hand and nobody will be happy about where this is heading. Lets ALL condemn violence no matter who is doing it. Dont know which side of even if its political with Mr. Pelosi. Conflicting reports but either way fuk who did this and hope they rot in jail. Hope the investigation doesnt drag on and the facts are made public...

Got it. You'll assign no culpability to the left for the summer of riots.
If you don't see the summer of riots for what it was, then I am probably not going to be able to convince you. But if you cared to look, I am sure you can still find plenty of out right encitmemt from the left all over the Internet. Or don't and continue to delude yourself.
