#11 Clemson (44-12) vs. Upstate (39-14)
Today
4:30 p.m. ET
Clemson, SC McWhorter Stadium
TV: ACCN
Clemson is one of, if not the, hottest team in the country. The selection committee made some questionable calls to get 7 out of 8 national seeds from one conference. However, I think our Lady Tigers got a favorable draw in the regional.
1 - Clemson (44-12)
2 - Kentucky (29-26)
3- Northwestern (29-18-1)
4 - Upstate (39-14)
Kentucky is a mainstay in the tourney. 16 straight selections, but injuries have hurt them this year. I don't know much about NW and there isn't a ton of info out there. They did only play 48 games this season compared to our 56 and Kentucky's 55. I did hear on the selection show that they were one of the last 4 in the tourney.
Ideally, we'd get Reese Basinger's best on the bump today and have a quick game. She came to Clemson for this, so hopefully the moment isn't too big for her. Brooke McCubbin has been there done that for this team through the years. Offensively, we are capable of playing with anyone. Maddie Moore is one of the best in the country, and Julia Knowler, Aby Vieira and several freshman provide plenty of pop. They have also shown the ability to come up with big hits with runners in scoring position. If we are missing anything, it is that spark plug at the top of the lineup. We have enough speed, but maybe not a true leadoff, tablesetter type.
GO TIGERS!
