#11 Clemson (47-12) vs. #6 Texas (49-10)
Thursday, Friday, Saturday (if necessary)
All games are 9pm ET
Austin, Texas - Red & Charlie McCombs Field
TV:
Thursday and Friday ESPN2, Saturday TBD, (Pam Ward, Jenny Dalton-Hill)
All Time: Texas leads 1-0 (Opening weekend 2022)

This is a classic super regional matchup. Two very good teams playing for the right to go to OKC. Texas started the season off as the consensus #1/2 team in the country. They stayed there for a few weeks and only really dropped after being swept by Oklahoma in late April. Interesting that they finished the regular season sweeping the UK team that Clemson just beat in the super (9-1, 7-6, 12-3).

Both teams hit for good power. Our pitch to contact pitching staff will be tested for sure. Clemson strikes out a ton so we need to hit in big spots.

A few stats from D1 softball (national rank out of 309)

ERA -- Texas 2.69 (25) Clemson 2.52 (15)
Strikeouts -- Texas 375 Clemson 258

Clemson Capsule - from clemsontigers.com
  • The 2025 ACC Champions were named the No. 11 National Seed during the 2025 NCAA Selection Show. This is the third time in Clemson’s six-year history that the Tigers have been a host and the third time in five postseasons Clemson has hosted a regional at McWhorter Stadium.
  • The Tigers swept the Clemson Regional with victories against USC Upstate (10-2 in 5), Northwestern (1-0 in 9) and Kentucky (5-1) to mark the second time in program history Clemson has swept a regional.
  • Clemson takes a 47-12 overall record into the Texas series and is on a 10-game winning streak.
  • The Tigers are 0-1 against the Longhorns after facing them for the first time in 2022 during opening weekend action.
  • Clemson has a .328 batting average. The Tigers also have a .562 slugging percentage and .425 on-base percentage.
  • The Tigers’ pitching staff holds a 2.52 ERA through 386 innings of work with 258 strikeouts.
QUICK HITS
  • Clemson has outscored opponents 422-183 this season.
  • Following the Georgia Tech series, Clemson eclipsed the 40-win milestone for the fourth time in program history. Following regionals, Clemson surpassed the 45-win milestone for the second time in program history.
  • The Tigers totaled 520 hits through 59 games in 2025, including the freshman class contributing 176 of those hits and returners Alex Brown (77), Maddie Moore (75), Julia Knowler (57) and Aby Vieira (57) adding to the list.
  • The Tigers have program records in hits (520), runs (422), RBIs (388), doubles (100), walks (245) and total bases (890) and home runs (82).
  • Clemson takes a 119 game hit streak into the 2025 regionals that began during the UNCG matchup at regionals on May 19, 2023.
TIGERS IN THE POSTSEASON
  • Clemson hosted a regional for the third time in only six years as a program.
  • The Tigers are the No. 11 seed in 2025 after being the No. 10 seed in 2022 and No. 16 seed in 2023.
  • Every year that Clemson has hosted, the Tigers have advanced to a super regional (Stillwater Super in 2022, Norman Super in 2023 & Austin Super in 2025).
  • The two additional years Clemson has made a postseason appearance, the Tigers have gone to the Tuscaloosa Regional.
  • Clemson takes a 12-9 overall record into the 2025 postseason – the Tigers have yet to win a super regional game.
Texas Capsule from texaslonghorns.com:
  • Thursday's game will mark the first time Texas has hosted a NCAA Super Regional as the tournament's sixth seed since the 2012 season.
  • If Texas wins Thursday's series-opening game, the Longhorns will have a three-game NCAA Super Regional winning streak, the longest by the Longhorns since the 2005 and 2006 teams combined to win four straight over a two-season span.
    • A two-game sweep of this week's action by Texas would tie the program's record for longest winning streak in its NCAA Super Regional history.
  • Coming off a weekend that saw her drive in a program regional-record 13 runs, Reese Atwood will enter this week's Super Regional just six RBI shy of tying the program's single-season RBI record (90) set just last season by Atwood herself.
  • With two more hits throughout the week's action, Ashton Maloney will move ahead of Lindsay Gardner (83; 2000) for second place on the program's single season hit list.
    • Maloney enters the week with 82 hits on the season, 10 shy of tying Janae Jefferson's single-season hit record (92) set throughout the 2022 season.
  • One win throughout the NCAA Austin Super Regional, Texas would win its 50th game on the 2025 season, which would make the 2025 team just the fifth squad in program history to win 50-or-more games.
    • It would also mark the first time in program history that Texas has won 50-or-more games in back-to-back seasons.
  • If a Game 3 is necessary, Saturday's action would mark the 800th all-time home game in program history.
    • Texas enters this week with a 634-160-3 (.797) all-time record in home games.
