saw this a few years ago...definitely describes a lot of what today has ended up looking like. not sure it's so much their influence that propelled us here as it is the general malaise in the population, because we had things too good. a lot of the population got fat, stupid, lazy, and entitled. history has many of examples of empires collapsing internally before falling to a foreign enemy - the greeks, the romans, ottomans etc. weak leadership > weak economy > fracturing socially > collapse. hard to say exactly how pervasive the damage is here, but certainly unmistakable signs of each already. should be a wake-up call, because history says it tends to get late pretty early.
put more succinctly....quite unfortunately, we're at the bad part of this cycle.
