I am not gonna get fooled by all the whining from the SEC. The narrative set by ESPN is such that they need SEC teams in this thing. That is the big brand they are invested in and even if Bama had gotten in over SMU they would have complained about the conference champs getting in because Ole Miss and SC were rated higher and they had a win over Clemson. The B1G is not that impressive beyond Oregon but they aren't complaining because they and their TV partners are thrilled with getting 4 in. The end goal is to get a playoff that excludes every one but members of the B1G and SEC and Notre Dame.

So with that in mind. This year and next year's playoffs are the most important for the whole of college football, Group of 5, and ACC and Big 12. The ACC may have done us no favors but as LW lined out, the ability for us as a CFP participant to get up to 20 million total is huge. The fact that SMU essentially paid money to join the ACC, its also huge for them to get some money out of the appearance.

If either us or Arizona State will take out Texas then I think the narrative of the SEC as a Monster will be proven wrong. I would like to see Notre Dame advance to the Semifinal over Indiana and UGA. SMU over Penn State with either Boise or SMU in the Semi vs Notre Dame would be funny as well. Especially since most feel like this bracket is the easiest for 5-8 seeds. If Oregon were the only participant from the B1G or SEC in the semis there would be no reason to have Sankey preening on ESPN. If the SEC or the B1G roll through this thing its going to be a nonstop drum beat for two years that it should just be the Big 2 and no one else.
