This sounds like a great experiment to observe....from a damn long way off.
I just think this whole racism thing is hogwash.
real racism is filled with hatred;
just listen to the quotes that Nuk posted by Calhoun.

I just don't think racism of today, is near the same caliber that is was in the democratic party prior to the 60s.
the most racist people I know are my black friends. I just think they are full of it. I give them shyt all the time. they give it back. but from their stories of racism sounds like any poor childs history with no father in the picture.
if black men took education, work, and family seriously, they get treated seriously.
be all lazy and act like I owe you something, not gonna get very far.

you didn't personally get treated as animals, just like I had nothing to do with my ancestors treatment of black people.
you have to climb out of that hole by yourself. you cant beg for your freedom with sacrifice.

when I wore a business suit, cops didn't fukk with me.
when I dressed yuppy, somethings I would get fukked with.
when I dressed hippy, I was fukked with almost daily.
so from my personal experience of living various lives up and down the income scale.
so attire, regardless of race does impact the way an officer treats you.
but once confronted by an officer, YOU HAVE TO KISS ASS and be super nice and follow instructions.
resistence of any kind could lead to death regardless of race.
evidence proves white men get killed by cops just as much as black men.
so instead of destroying shit and calling white people racist.
go to school, get a job, take care of your family-
do that, then come back and ask for something.

I've seen others with concepts of this that are workable. They include keeping an actual police force, but taking several tasks out of their hands. Things like mental health, social worker issues, animal control, homelessness - crap like that. Stuff the police honestly have no business dealing with unless there are actual crimes committed.
But I doubt the city council of Minneapolis is smart enough to have come up with something like this. The impression I get is that they are not and have no answers to the one question:
"Who do I call when my house is being broken into at 4AM?" A similar question was posted to the "president"(?) of the Minneapolis City Council, and she dodged it.
But I don't live there, so it's no skin off of my nose.

I see different explanations but what I have seen from the actual Minneapolis area indicates they actually are considering getting rid of ALL policing in the city. May not be where they land, but it seems to be an option.
that would be fun to watch actually. And yes I liberally used the word fun.
The city would lose businesses and most non criminal minded people will relocate. The criminals will have to leave at some point as well, because will they actually steal from each other? so we will see the city turn to a ghost town.
Would there be any laws? Because without people to uphold the laws would those matter?
I have seen this before though, the entire Old Testament of the Bible is a historical lesson of a people doing what they want, asking for rulers, gettin gmad at rulers losing rulers, then asking for rulers again.
