i agree, most active career politicians never changed parties, but for some reason the map very quickly changed colors, the phenomena was that the next generation changed parties while holding many of the same principals of the opposite party the generation before them... the main take away from my statement should be that party affiliation patterns are cyclical and can not easily be compared to one another based on party name.

i'd add that i've not called the republican party racist and i don't believe it to be, i consider myself a republican, i don't think its base is racist, i think its base is anti government expansion and against the principals of social welfare programs in general. these things correlate but do not cause the racial stereotype of republicans.

Trump kinda had me (mainly based on his stance on NAFTA), but then lost me for good after the Khan family fiasco. I've always voted Reublican too. I didn't this time. Didn't vote for Hillary either. Trump isn't what a president should be. He can't control himself. He can't control what he says about others. He stated what he would do but never how he would do it coherently. I don't think he's a good person. I don't think he's a good person at all. I don't think Hillary is either, btw. But I couldn't put my name behind a man like that.

He's been sued twice by the Justice Department for refusing to rent to black people and other minorities.

He was fined by the governing body of New Jersey casinos for discrimination towards black individuals.

He would not denounce the KKKs and David Duke's endorsement for him this year.

I won't get in to quotes because I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you and I won't agree on what's racist and what isn't when comes to people's comments. But the three things above are records of fact and can't be disputed when it comes to his racist acts.

1. It seems like the cases by the justice department were eventually thrown out along with a bunch of other cases at the time. According to what I was able to find. Says nobody was held liable for any wrongdoings. So............next.

2. His company was fined for some wack jobs actions in one of his casinos. NOT HIM.

They've made progress the last couple of years but not Stanley Cup caliber yet. I'm still hoping too. I sure do miss watching the 80s Islanders. To me the worst kind of racist is one who exploits a race for their own gain, which is the demoncratic party that professes to have their best interest in mind while ensuring they remain in poverty with their policies, all the while ensuring that they get their votes.

I will agree that Trump is not very articulate, and he sometimes spoke in generalizations that resonated poorly, but if you think that he solicited or was happy about the KKK endorsement, then you're really reaching. The KKK has a right to endorse whomever they want. I would bet that he cringed, as did all members of the GOP. I for one didn't think they still existed.

Conversely, NAMBLA endorses the democratic party every single election. Does that make all the Dems pedophiles?
