Killadelphia is in shambles, and has been for a long time now. Growing up 15 min outside the city across the river in southern NJ, going out to South Street and Penns Landing was an extremely common occurrence for me and my family/friends. I don’t recall feeling unsafe there growing up, but man…it’s tough to be in that city nowadays.

If they win I'm going to the party in Kensington

The city continues to crumble.

They blame guns and racism, but its more of Rap/HipHop problem.

Instead of banning guns, they should ban rap and HipHop.

The lyrics of those songs are destroying the kids.

Guns are not near as dangerous as lyrics.

Less posting, more walking to get me my beer I ordered.

Probably be multiple kids shot while the super bowl is being played.

Maybe they should track it while the game is going on.

Just to show how bad our inner cities have become.

I'm not a conservative.

Maybe a little ultra something but not conservative.

I call it like I see it.

I don't bow down to any political bs

I don't need to.

Just simple facts.

Rap is the problem instead of sticking thousands of people on top of each other without necessary resources to live so they have to result to doing illegal activities to make money and provide for their families which leads to violence and crime. But sure let’s blame a Meek Mill song for some kid shooting another kid. I hate to break it to you but there was a ton of crime and violence in inner cities way before rap music existed. Look at the 70/80s with the crack and heroin eras all before rap/hip hop was a thing

I was out in downtown Philly last night. Could have been me.

Btw, I’m sure there are plenty of dangerous shitholes in Philly, but I never felt unsafe and we walked ~20 total blocks and went to a restaurant and 2 bars before returning to the hotel.

Many conservative men are absolutely terrified of inner cities right now. Good for you for braving it.

They also fear-monger about NYC but this is the second time I've been here in two months and I'll walk everywhere just to enjoy the city. Never felt unsafe for a second. LMAO at crime-ridden hellscape. I'd feel less safe in a small Alabama town than I do here.

We have a lot of problems in our cities right now. They are almost universally overstated by the right and dramatically understated by the left. But of course we'll focus on one direction of the problem. Lol

Your argument is that black culture is destroying our cities and you 1, think that's a "fact" and 2, think you aren't being racist?

FYI, the leading cause of death for black men under 44 is homicide. The overwhelming majority of these homicides are committed by other black males. That's about 10 times greater than it is for white men under 44 for whom it is the sixth or seventh leading cause of death. Do you care about these people? I do. There is a significant problem. So while it is pretty safe in most cities in the economic centers it is not nearly as safe for others. But then as evidenced by many posts in this thread, no one really cares about those folks. It's all about how your experience is well protected areas of commerce.

In the early to mid 1900's the people in Harlem would sleep outside in yards, on fire escapes and in parks on the hot nights in New York City because most people did not have air conditioning at the time. They wouldn't dream of doing that now and when people are told about that they are aghast that would have ever been considered. Things have absolutely changed and not for the better in these areas. It should be a top of mind concern for all of us.

I love NYC. But I’m guessing the major problems in these cities exist outside of the areas you and I frequent.

Nobody on the left is understating these problems. Pushing back on the insane nonsense we hear from the right is not the same as understating the problems. I've said this many many many times on this board. There is a lot of attention and resources focused on these issues in cities. It just doesn't get the national news medias attention and doesn't fit into the nonsense outrage culture that is particularly pervasive in media.

Oh gotcha. It's all under control. How silly of me. All these facts are just right-wing lies. Gotcha.

Good grief...

Of violence is such a problem why don't lawmakers ask the people living there what's going on? Why don't they ask the social workers there? The nurses and doctors?

Maybe so, but I've never seen evidence of said problems anywhere I've been in the city. Yesterday I got out of my meeting late and didn't have time to get a cab and wait in traffic to get to LaGuardia, so I rode the subway from Manhattan to Queens and got on a bus to the airport from there. Total non-event. I'm not disputing that crimes take place there, just like in any major city but the hyperbole is way over-blown.

When we lived in Mexico City, the top question we received from friends and family was "Are you safe?" or "Do you feel safe?"

It's a city of 24 million people. There is some crime. But we stuck to the places we knew, and never had one problem in 2 years.

I also like to laugh at the people on this site who feel that coming into Atlanta is akin to some John Carpenter "Escape from L.A." type scenario.

Big city fearmongering is done by people who don't live in or ever frequent big cities. It's a common theme I've found with all this

What did he say that was wrong- in your eyes?
Everything. Banning music is asinine. Also he has a long history of racist posts as well. But he’s also a bartender who doesn’t have custody of his kids so I’m not totally surprised.

WOW!

You don't think music is part of our culture?

I'd love to see the racist post he has put forth before. I don't think others on this board would allow that to go on.

What does his profession, or his parental status have to do with any of this?

his argument is that black culture is destroying american cities. thats explicitly racist. what are you missing?

Would your position on the subject be that white supremacy is destroying the inner cities

Or maybe the Ubiquitous Bad people called Jews

Then we have plenty of other groups to blame

Why do’t we start out with the population and diversity of each city based on ethnicity

Then gather information on the crimes

Maybe that will be a good start

Tell me about the plank in your eye.

Heavy Metal is corrupting our youth and leading to satanic worship!!!

Marilyn Manson lyrics caused Columbine!!!

I agree, heavy metal can have horrible lyrics too-

But it's nothing compared to the horrible trash of rap or hip hop guys.

Utter trash.

If a kid of any color in today's america can't make it-

It's not my fault, the government s fault, the polices fault, or any other white person.

It's own that person. Time to quit blaming racism and white people.

Time to grow up and admit the real problems I the community

Stand up against the lyrics of those songs if you want to fix the culture.

They don't have to do illegal activities.

That's a lie and totally false and glorified in rap music.

Hence where the problem lies.

You start by taking rap music with horrible lyrics off the shelves and keep that nasty shit away from the kids.

And tell these rap artist to start making lyrics that inspire our kids to be great.

Not tear it down, kill people, steal shyt, rap women.

Just horrible nasty shit these rap artist are pushing out there on our youth.

It's destroying kids.

Of violence is such a problem why don't lawmakers ask the people living there what's going on? Why don't they ask the social workers there? The nurses and doctors?

Forest and trees.

Those peeps have been entrained that it's white people that causes them to be in the condition that they find themselves

Instead of

Taking personal responsibility for your plight .

Not all of "black culture" .

Lots of good in black culture too.

Don't be so prideful that you don't see that rap is killing black kids daily.

Stand up and do the right thing.

Don't be lazy and blame white people for pointing it out.

Help to fix it by taking on these lyrics as hard as you take on white people for pointing it out.
