It's my understanding that in working out the final details today, Clemson and Monte Lee have reached an unusual compensation impasse. Hopefully this phase of negotiation won't wreck the hiring entirely. Radakovich was told last week that Lee intended to bring along his pitching coach, Matt Heath. But apparently we are offering between $50K-$75K less than Lee wants to pay for that role.

It would be very disappointing were Clemson to back off this hire due to additional funds for a pitching coach. While I don't personally know enough about the guy to argue whether he's worth it, what is certain is that we need a cohesive staff in place asap, and that investing in pitching should be a priority!

If we were going to pay Sully, McDonnell or Schlossnagel several hundred thousand dollars a year more than Monte Lee to lead the program, what's a legitimate argument for not raising budget expectations for worthy assistant coaches?
