… completed 8 charging stations.
Why? Was it the will of the people?Oh good Lord this shit again? This has been thoroughly debunked multiple times.
The money was allocated, but hasn't been spent yet. They are in the process of construction.

What does this even mean? What kind of gotcha are you attempting here? Was it the will of the people?
Yes? Of course. Their representatives voted on it since it was in a budget passed by CongressWhy? Was it the will of the people?
I have no dog in the fight in regards to them being built or not. I do wonder if there’s a demand for this or if this is being driven by clean energy or climate policy as opposed to actual demand. In other words, this is a lot of dough, is it a wise use of it?No idea if true or not, but anecdotally i have seen way more Electric Vehicle charging stations being installed in the last 3-4months.
Shopping malls, government buildings, Youth athletic fields. Good strategic placement for where people actually need to charge.
Debunked by whom?
I am a big proponent of EV's. However, I do not think they should be subsidized or funded by the government.I have no dog in the fight in regards to them being built or not. I travel regionally (2 states) for work. 95% of that travel is done in my ICE vehicle. I would be beyond miserable having to stop and charge over and over. It’s not for everyone.I am a big proponent of EV's. However, I do not think they should be subsidized or funded by the government.
That being said, the demand will be there. EV's are hands down better than ICE cars and its just not close. Go drive one for a week and you won't want to switch back.
Since they are, hands down, better cars AND they are cheaper to produce, cheaper to maintain, and cheaper to operate. Considering all that I just don't see a way that is not the future.
CNN is not realty. Aren’t you the Sesame Street ISIS guy?By reality?

Don't worry, all those nuclear security guys weren't importantIt's pretty typical for a government to develop infrastructure, particularly for emerging technologies that need support for the industry to thrive.
I don't have an EV, but I'm fine with the spend since I see the long range advantages of moving towards EV.
I just laugh at every single government expense now being twisted on the right to be some example of government waste.

Not yet i agree.I travel regionally (2 states) for work. 95% of that travel is done in my ICE vehicle. I would be beyond miserable having to stop and charge over and over. It’s not for everyone.
When the technology catches up, I may agree with you. If you do enough driving that you would be forced to charge in the middle of your work day, I don't agree with you.I am a big proponent of EV's. However, I do not think they should be subsidized or funded by the government.

I see and understand your argument. It's a reasonable path and if that is the path that is chosen, I would be fine with it.It's pretty typical for a government to develop infrastructure, particularly for emerging technologies that need support for the industry to thrive.

Your driving habits will be the last category to switch over. If you drive over 250 miles per day, that category will be the last to switch over. But, imo, they will eventually switch over. Eventually batteries will get 500-600 miles per charge which will be equivalent to gas cars. When the technology catches up, I may agree with you. If you do enough driving that you would be forced to charge in the middle of your work day, I don't agree with you.
Speaking for myself only, I don't have $30-60k laying around to buy a glorified golf cart.

I will never dispute that government does good things. As you pointed out many technologies are started by the government like the internet, GPS, etc.
I think where the country disagrees is the size and scope of government. And I think most people, reps and dems, understand that our spending was out of control. The numbers don't lie and anyone disagrees is being willfully ignorant or just plain ignorant.
We all know that many things are being taken out of context. Many of the things are not fraud, just things republicans disagree with. That being said, an honest observer can't deny that there is a lot of both fraud and abuse. Our spending HAS to be cut.
And yes, i do believe it's rich that Gov subsidies helped Tesla and now Trump is calling for their end. But it just goes to show another bad policy intervention. We would have been better off if the gov had never meddled in the first place. It's not elons fault for taking advantage of the subsidies, the problem is that the subsidies were there for him to take advantage of.
1) I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but the amount of miles is irrelevant to me. As I said, when the technology catches up, I wouldn't have a problem with it.Your driving habits will be the last category to switch over. Telsa is already doubling the charging power with its V4 charger. So while we can charge at up to 250 kwh now, in v4 the chargers will charge at up to 500 kwh. The technology is changing fast.
couple of questions for you
1) How many miles a day do you drive
2) have you driven any type of pure electric car
Just wanted to say this is a fatpiggy I could communicate with. I am definitely all for cutting out waste. But just be genuine about it. I also think a lot of times, the way things get bloated a bit is through compromise. One party values X ($35) while the other values Y ($35). So when they negotiate the budget, you end up with essentials plus X plus Y. When maybe you only had $50 to balance. So they end up doing both. Which adds up over time. I don't love it either, but it just feels disingenuous to then complain about the X or Y, when you had to also agree to the other when the public budget was negotiated. Last, I think fraud is a serious charge, and think they should all be prosecuted if true, but that people in power should be less quick to accuse others of fraud without actual proof. In this case, they have all the power to actual investigate, and if there is actual fraud found, I hope they lock em all up, regardless of party. We all know that many things are being taken out of context. Many of the things are not fraud, just things republicans disagree with. That being said, an honest observer can't deny that there is a lot of both fraud and abuse. Our spending HAS to be cut.
I watch that movie and the fake President wanted to restore some funding for a homeless shelter so his buddy accountant helped him find the money in the budget. They found a lot of wasteful spending.Have you by chance ever seen the movie Dave? Plot is basically an everyday guy looks exactly like the President, so when the President falls into a coma or something, the everyday guy is pulled in as a copy, etc etc etc. But there's a great scene where they are in a budget meeting and he thinks its ridiculous, so they call in his best friend an accountant, and they start cutting. Would guess you could find it by youtube searching "Dave balance budget" or something (still at work so can't youtube)

We're seeing it in real life aren't we @CUTiger1977?I watch that movie and the fake President wanted to restore some funding for a homeless shelter so his buddy accountant helped him find the money in the budget. They found a lot of wasteful spending.
This real movie is much better with the Donald employing Elon to find all the wasteful spending.
Serious question. When interstates are falling apart do you think that money should be spent on that or on technology like charging stations? It's pretty typical for a government to develop infrastructure, particularly for emerging technologies that need support for the industry to thrive.

How terrible was the previous administrations position on this when the beneficiary company is basically destroying the legislation that benefits them. And simultaneously thousands of libs on X are whining that Elon is doing this for money. It’s laughable.I see and understand your argument. It's a reasonable path and if that is the path that is chosen, I would be fine with it.

The left has no analytical skills which explains their constant state of confusion. How terrible was the previous administrations position on this when the beneficiary company is basically destroying the legislation that benefits them. Tesla is building way more stations than the government. Look it up.It's pretty typical for a government to develop infrastructure, particularly for emerging technologies that need support for the industry to thrive.
