California Secessionist Movement

I like their wine and cheese. They can keep the rest.

be nice if they would secede and then we kicked their ass and they had to take a vow of devotion and loyalty to the US the way the South did. Also be nice to have Marshall Law there as well. I would want all celebrities and such tried for treason and hanged of course.

And we would need to spend billions to extend the wall and add security to prevent illegal immigration after California collapses in a year due to their inability to support itself and crime growth.

6th largest economy, or so they say. And they pay more into federal taxes than they get back, so could probably figure out a way to survive.

Movies would be much less entertaining if all the actors were executed - there's always HeeHaw reruns

I guess that is why towns in California have been going bankrupt. Or is it because the state taxes are so high for welfare programs, people are paying more state taxes.

Not saying they don't have issues, just that they have the ability to survive. Lots of other cities going bankrupt outside CA.

I promise you if California Seceded from the US, everyone that actually pays taxes would move inland and there would be no one in California to cover the millennials and lazy people in the state. It would become a mess for California and the US.

Maybe. But if they left it would be for a reason and the majority would have voted for it.

I am not sure what the process is to Secede from the US, but given that most of the people in the state are liberal there is a possibility it could pass if it only requires a majority. If it is a 60% vote who knows, it would be close.

But, if the vote were ever to become a reality, the tax payers would actually move before the vote.

Funny thing is that - like most states- - a large geographic chunk of even California is "red".

Some have said that California should be split into 3 states as the interest of those regions are too diverse and cannot be managed together in 2016. ..similar dynamics in other States.

It wouldnt suprise me if a serious effort to divide some State doesnt make, waves in the next 20 years or so. california, ny, colorado etc

They can't survive without Colorado River water. That could easily be cut off. But we need Camp Pendleton.

I think the answer to if a State can leave the Union was answered when the War of Northen Aggression was labeled the Civil War. :)

:) But I think we should extend the wall anyway....and all the way up the west coast from California to Washington. Just kidding

Texas wanted to do the same thing (probably still does). Do you vote for them to leave too?
I don't want Texas to leave necessarily, but I think they should have the right to leave if their citizens vote for it. I would love to see California leave. I hope they do and I think they have the right to.

Trust me you do not want California to leave the union

If California was to leave, the first thing we should do is make it illegal for any company in the United States to sell and transport electricity to California.

55 electoral votes that always goes left.

Let them leave, makes the Rep path to the White House that much easier

Trumps not even in office yet and people are threatening to deport themselves.

Good job America. You got it right.

This thread scares me for the future of the US. Lots of different opinions in this country, and his because they dont agree with you doesn't mean they are wrong. I didn't vote for Trump and dont agree with lots of what he wants to do, but I'm not going to cry about it and leave the country. I'm going to keep working, supporting my family, and trying to make this a better place. I certainly dont want California or any other state to secede. We also need the victory speech Trump bringing people together not the election speech Trump playing them against each other. Just my opinion though.
